I finally found the coolest hotel in Kunming!

My first experience at the Four Points by Sheraton Kunming, Dongfeng Plaza: Is it worth it? The long-awaited Four Points by Sheraton Kunming, Dongfeng Plaza in downtown Kunming has finally opened! As a Marriott member, I now have another great check-in option, and I couldn't wait to experience it as soon as it opened. I booked a Superior King Room with Sunshine View, and I was pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a Premium King Room with Sunshine View upon arrival. My first impression was fantastic! The doorman was warm and thoughtful, offering to help with my luggage and registering my car. The receptionist was efficient and quickly checked me in, while also thoughtfully introducing the hotel facilities. There was no awkwardness of a newly opened hotel at all. 🏘️Room Type/Layout: The hotel features a typical Four Points by Sheraton design style, creating a bright and welcoming atmosphere. I was initially worried about formaldehyde issues since it's a new hotel, but there was hardly any odor. The front desk also displayed the formaldehyde test results, which made me feel very safe. The Premium King Room has a clever layout, with the bathroom separated from the sleeping area by a wall, giving it a suite-like feel. It would be even more perfect if the space were a bit larger, allowing the desk and chairs to be moved to the other side. The room faces the street, and closing the window effectively blocks out most outside noise, although occasional car horns can still be heard. 🛌Amenities/Facilities: The mini-bar in the refrigerator is complimentary. Although the selection isn't extensive, the gesture is appreciated. Even more surprisingly, the room is equipped with Nongfu Spring water instead of regular purified water – attention to detail is evident. The bed is moderately firm, offering great comfort and ensuring a good night's sleep. The hotel also has self-service laundry facilities and a fitness center. The courtyard and parking lot are painted white, complementing the building and greenery, creating a Southeast Asian vibe with a fresh and Instagrammable aesthetic. The hotel's interior design is modern and stylish, and the brand-new facilities look great in photos. 🧹Soundproofing/Cleanliness: The overall hygiene is excellent, and the room was spotless. As for soundproofing, while it doesn't completely block out car horns, the impact on rest is minimal with the windows closed. 💰Average Cost: My one-night stay cost 572 yuan, and I even got a room upgrade. This price isn't particularly low, and within this budget, there are other hotels or homestays with better locations to choose from. 💗Other Tips: The view from the room's window is of the street, nothing special. It's more comfortable with the curtains drawn. The hotel breakfast is exceptional, standing out among similarly priced hotels. It offers a wide variety of dishes, including coffee, yogurt, juice, and milk. The noodle station has four flavors to choose from, which is very satisfying. The Ersi noodles I ordered weren't cooked thoroughly, but after I informed the staff, they not only remade the dish immediately but also came to apologize sincerely. The service was incredibly attentive. I highly recommend the traditional fermented glutinous rice balls – you must try them! Overall, the hotel is newly opened with complete hardware facilities, high comfort levels, and excellent service. It's worth a try for those looking to experience a new hotel.
