Exploring the history of Fort Margherita

#familytrips2024 Fort Margherita was built in 1879 to guard Kuching’s river approaches from pirates. It has been renovated and turned into the Brooke Gallery (see Museums and Galleries in Kuching), it houses a wide range of memorabelia of the Brooke Era. We paid for RM10 for the local entrance fee. The entrance fee for foreigners will be RM20. The fort is open daily from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. The fort is an important landmark and monument in Sarawak's history which goes back to the Brooke Dynasty. Named after Charles Brooke’s wife, Ranee Margaret, it is an extremely interesting building. Our dream destination for our family trip is China as it's rich history, diverse culture, stunning landscapes, and delicious cuisine make it a captivating place to visit.
