The National Mosque of Malaysia - a fusion of religion and art, being there brings a sense of tranquility

The National Mosque is one of the larger mosques in Southeast Asia, completed in 1965. It is a complex that includes a prayer hall, a large minaret, mausoleums, and office buildings. Its design and decorations are similar to the three major mosques in Mecca, with a grand and imposing presence. It is an outstanding representation of Islamic architectural art, interpreting the brilliant culture and art of Islam in a modern way, novel and wonderful. The roof of the main hall is composed of 49 different-sized circles, forming 18 spectacular radial starbursts, symbolizing the 13 states and the 'Five Pillars' of Islam. Behind the main hall is a beautifully designed mausoleum, where the coffins of Muslim heroes are deeply enshrined.
