Our horrible stay at Baan Orchid!

The house itself and the people working there are great. But then again that's where it ends. We planned to stay for 5 nights, but only stayed for 1. At first everything looks great, the staff is very friendly and we were guided to the house. They told us 2 canoes and 2 sub boards are on the beach to use. We went to the beach and looked where the ocean should be, which we didn't know, is only there for 6 months and during our stay there is no sea to swim in, so the beach itself was useless! You could as well stay in a cheaper off beach location. Nobody told us that there's a 6 months high, and 6 months low tide and during low tide you need to go elsewhere to swim. The beachclub isn't really nice, and it looks pretty run down and old. Also the pools from the pictures are not even close to what they look like in real life. There are no shops around this area so you'd need a taxi everywhere you go. These were our first couple of bad impression. But it became even worse. We thought let's go back to the house and go swimming in the pool. The pool itself looked great and the water was nice and clean. My wife was sitting on a towel on the side of the pool, a dark grey one from the house. As she stood up we were shocked that the towel was bleached severely and we found out that it came from the floor surrounding the pool. Some sort of chemical residue were everywhere on the floor and when it touched some clothing or towels it bleached out completely. As my youngest son (5 years old) isn't the best of swimmers he held himself on the same floor around the pool to take a breath and after a few minutes he started to cry because his hands were hurting. We saw what the chemicals did to his fingers and there were acid burns all over his fingers. We even needed doctors advise to help us with the treatment. In the house itself, of the 2 toilets, 1 was leaking on the floor when flushing. We had several cockroaches in the bathroom and some sockets (next to a sink) were open and the guard surrounding it was missing. So if you'd splash a little water on it you'd have a chance of an electric shock. There were some dangerously sharp, broken, edges on the extractor hood in the kitchen. The beds are very hard as well, but maybe someone likes it that way. The breakfast is a short walk to the main entrance area. This was also not as good as we expected, it was at most just okay. After we left we are now still discussing the issue of the bodily injury caused by negligence on my son's hands, false representation of the surroundings and lost days of our holiday with luxuryislandvillas. Only thing we got is that they told me the pool water is okay! Which hasn't been the problem! We will not return and can not recommend this house for anyone! we travel a lot and all over the world but this was the worst experience we've had in a long time!

📌 Ready to upgrade your island escape? I just hit up the most legendary beaches on Koh Samui — think perfect sand, zero crowds, and sunsets for days 🌴🔥 This is THE guide for beach hoppers hunting for chill, turquoise waters and that laidback tropical vibe. 📝 Top Spots to Visit in Koh Samui: ➡️ Lipa Noi Beach (Ko Samui District, Surat Thani, Thailand) If you’re after soft sands, super shallow water, and none of the noisy party vibes, Lipa Noi is pure gold. Find local food shacks along the beach for ridiculously good coconut ice cream. Pro tip: sunset here is next-level — get your camera ready! ➡️ Bo Phut Beach (Surat Thani, Thailand) The Fisherman’s Village stretch is awesome for grabbing fresh seafood right on the shore, plus you’ve got plenty of space for a quiet swim. Love a chill market stroll at sunset? This spot is a winner. Everything is open year-round, so no worries about timing. ➡️ Crystal Beach (F3H8+3R7, Tambon Maret, Ko Samui District, Surat Thani, Thailand) Hidden gem alert: Crystal Beach has ultra-clear water and is perfect for snorkeling. Bring reef-safe sunscreen — the coral’s legit! If you can, arrive in the morning for peak tranquility before more day-trippers show up. 📝 Getting Around: Renting a scooter or using local taxis is the easiest way to beach hop — roads are decent and distances are short. Stock Thai baht, cash is king at most beachside shacks. 🍽️ Food Musts: Stop at beach cafés for pad thai, grilled fish, and fresh coconut water. For Fisherman’s Village at Bo Phut Beach, splurge on lobster or classic mango sticky rice. Travel Tips: Pack light layers and sun protection (the midday heat is real). No entrance fees for these beaches! Always double-check weather (May–October is rainier). #KohSamuiBeaches #ThailandTravel #BeachHopping #IslandVibes #Tripcom
