Yoyokan: A Century-Old Elegant Inn in Karatsu

In this 130-year-old inn, time seems to flow differently. Enjoy the tranquility of your room while sipping tea and watching the koi fish, quietly flip through books in the library, or take a stroll in the garden, all offering a unique sense of homecoming. The hotel's gallery sells Karatsu ware by various artists, which is also used in their dinner dishes. This inn is rich in history, and you can feel the beauty of the passing years. We were invited by the 91-year-old owner to his secret space at the other end of the garden to drink and chat, and we also admired works by Sun Yat-sen. For Yoyokan, we might visit Karatsu again. It is a quiet seaside town near Fukuoka, perfect for a peaceful getaway.
