Kangding - Gateway to the mountains

Kangding - a town a couple of hours’ drive from Chengdu is known as the gateway to the mountains. While the city itself flatters to deceive, once you start driving and gaining altitude then everything sets into place. Just 10 minutes out of town you’ll start to see the mountains peaking from the clouds. If you’re wary of the altitude then there’s always some stops selling oxygen - otherwise just take it slow, don’t hike too fast and you’ll be golden.
