It has a history of more than a thousand years and was built in 1063. According to legend, the white dove is the messenger of Hachiman, and this shrine was originally built by Minamoto no Yoriyoshi to thank the god for blessing him with victory and regarded Minamoto as the patron god. Later, Minamoto no Yoritomo relocated and expanded the shrine in 1180, giving it its magnificent appearance today. The Dango-style approach to the shrine was built by the first shogun Minamoto no Yoritomo during the Kamakura period in order to pray for a smooth childbirth for his wife, Hojo Masako. About 450 meters in front of the shrine, this green road on both sides welcomes the grand cherry blossom season every spring.
