#hellohalloween The Name and Folklore (5/5 Stars) The chill in the air and the damp moss underfoot made this the perfect #hellohalloween destination. The Arboretum Kalmthout truly lives up to its eerie potential in late October. We specifically sought out the famous Hamamelis collection, not for their winter bloom, but for the sheer folklore of the name: "Witch Hazel." Walking amongst the bare-limbed giants felt like stepping into an ancient forest ready for spells and potion-making. The history of this plant, once used for divination and remedies, adds a genuinely mysterious layer to the visit. It's a wonderful, low-cost alternative to expensive haunted houses, offering a much more authentic, spooky-yet-beautiful nature experience. Highly recommend taking the longer path (which is totally free after entry) to maximize the shadowy atmosphere and historical connection to the season. The minimal entry fee is a steal for this level of atmosphere.
