District Museum of the Kalisz Region

Kalisz has a museum collecting exhibits not only from the city, but also from the immediate vicinity. It is one of the oldest museums in the country and is located at ul. Kościuszki 12. It was established in 1900, and in 1975 it was raised to its current rank. Its collection includes archaeological, ethnographic, historical and artistic monuments, as well as a collection of African exhibits from the expeditions to this continent of Kalisz resident Stefan Szolc-Rogoziński. The museum's resources are divided into a part devoted to archaeological research of the surrounding areas (collection of stone axes, metal inventory, burial equipment, monuments relating to the development of settlements), an ethnographic part (devotional articles, costumes, instruments, household appliances and craft tools, handicrafts), a historical part ( militaria, cartographic archives, iconography, numismatic collections), an art department and a section collecting publications related to Kalisz. #poland #museum
