The lesser-known pure white temple in Xishuangbanna can produce peak masterpieces

Prajna Pagoda historical introduction · In the 3rd century BC, the Maurya Dynasty's third king, King Ashoka, unified most of India, becoming the largest empire in Indian history. King Ashoka was a devout Buddhist, generously supported the Sangha, and sent out nine Dharma propagation missions to various places at home and abroad. The eighth mission reached the land of gold, which is Lower Myanmar and central and southern Thailand. Later, Buddhism spread to the entire Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and other Southeast Asian countries. In the 7th century AD, Buddhism was introduced to the Dai and Sipsongpanna ethnic groups in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan Province, China, and has been passed down to this day. · In 833 AD (Dai calendar year 295), the elder Paramaha Ananda, who came to Xishuangbanna to propagate the Dharma, led a monastic group. Under the protection of King Chaopong Maralacha, together with the villagers led by Paya Zheng from Manzhen Village, Paya Baranma Shan from Manying Village, and Baranma Pong Wengzi from Manzhuangxie Village, they built the Prajna Pagoda. The core of the pagoda is 122 times deep (about 8.5 meters deep), and it is said to enshrine two strands of Buddha's hair. · During the reign of King Chawesili Chantamalama (Dai calendar years 990-1006, AD 1628-1644), the Prajna Pagoda was rebuilt, the original base was excavated, and four Buddha relics were placed in the core of the pagoda. · During the reign of King Dao Zhengzong (Chaowana) (Dai calendar years 1196-1226, AD 1834-1864), the Prajna Pagoda underwent its third renovation. · During the reign of King Dao Shixun (Chaomenghanbo) (Dai calendar years 1309-1315, AD 1947-1953), the fourth renovation of the Prajna Pagoda was carried out on August 15th, 1995 (Dai calendar year 1357). · In August 2014 (Thai calendar year 1376), the fifth renovation of the Prajna Pagoda was initiated by the Vice Secretary-General of the Buddhist Association of China, the Vice Chairman of the CPPCC of Jinghong City, Xishuangbanna, and the President of the Buddhist Association of Jinghong City, Elder Duhan Ting. · The Prajna Pagoda, as one of the older and more famous pagodas in the Xishuangbanna region, is now supported by the faith group of Gajiu Town, Jinghong City, and good-hearted people from all directions.
