Andalusia Tour ~ Cadiz (Region) The remains of the medieval Al-Andalus Castle in Jimena de la Frontera stand on a hill in the Sierra San Cristóbal and were used as a watchtower on the old border. Some elements of the castle fortress are fairly well preserved: the walls adapted to the terrain, and the corresponding towers or watchtowers. The so-called bell tower, or Albaran, and the Alcázar, were renovated after the conquest by the Kingdom of Castile and dominated by a circular castle. Behind the castle we found the “Baths of the Moorish Queen” which is actually the baptistery of an ancient Mozarabic church dug out of the rock.
