Jilin Manchu Museum • Former Residence of Wang Baichuan

The Jilin Manchu Museum, located at No. 47 Desheng Road, Chuanying District, Jilin City, Jilin Province, mainly features the "Jilin Manchu Exhibition," showcasing the rich local history, cultural connotations, and unique ethnic characteristics. Jilin City is one of the important birthplaces of the Manchu people. The Manchu people and their ancestors have lived and thrived on this land for generations. The "Jilin Manchu Exhibition" at the Jilin Manchu Museum highlights the regional and ethnic characteristics, showcasing not only the folk customs and traditions of the Jilin Manchu people and their ancestors but also the true history of Jilin City. This includes its role as a sacred ancestral worship site for the Qing Dynasty's royal family, a strategic hub for governing Northeast China, the establishment of the Dasa Wula General's Yamen, shipbuilding factories, the inland water navy, the Eight Banners' Yanwu Hall, the construction of Jilin City, the appointment of generals, the establishment of the provincial capital, and the imperial construction of the Xiaobai Mountain Wangji Temple. The Jilin Manchu Museum is housed in the former residence of Wang Baichuan (also known as the Wang Baichuan Courtyard), originally built in 1932. It is the only well-preserved, typical quadrangle dwelling from the Qing Dynasty to the Republican period in Jilin City, and one of the few well-preserved quadrangle dwellings in Northeast China. The layout of the indoor heated brick beds and stoves, as well as the patterns on the doors and windows, all bear the characteristics of Manchu dwellings in Jilin.
