Professor Su Buqing's Former Residence in Meicheng Town, Jiande, Zhejiang

Built in the late Qing Dynasty, Professor Su Buqing's former residence in Meicheng covers an area of over 400 square meters. It is a two-story, brick-and-wood structured courtyard house with three bays and two entrances. The first entrance features a traditional Shikumen gate, while the second floor has a corridor-style structure surrounding a central courtyard. There is also a single-story wing on the left side. It is a designated historical building in Jiande City. Su Buqing (1902-2003), a native of Pingyang, Wenzhou, Zhejiang, was a renowned Chinese mathematician and educator, and the founder of the Chinese school of differential geometry. He served as a professor, head of the mathematics department, and dean of academic affairs at Zhejiang University. In 1955, he was elected as a member (academician) of the Faculty of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In November 1937, he joined the westward relocation of Zhejiang University to Meicheng, Jiande. According to the "National Zhejiang University Faculty and Staff Directory in Jiande," he resided here. In December of the same year, he continued the westward relocation and moved away from this location.
