Hanging Temple in Shanxi.

The Hanging Temple is located on the cliff of Cuiping Peak on the west side of Jinlong Gorge, Hengshan, Hunyuan County, Datong City, Shanxi Province. It was built in the late Northern Wei Dynasty (491 AD) and has a history of more than 1,500 years. It is a unique temple where Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism are integrated. The architecture of the Hanging Temple is very distinctive and is known for its dangerousness as if it is on the edge of an abyss. There is a folk saying that "the Hanging Temple is half a day high, and three horse tails are hanging in the air", which is known for its dangerousness as if it is on the edge of an abyss. We drove to the Hanging Temple Scenic Area. Because we need to make an appointment in advance to visit the temple, there are too many tourists, so we can only watch from the bottom of the mountain. We strolled under the mountain and looked at the Hanging Temple from a distance. It was arranged in a "one courtyard and two buildings" layout, with a total length of about 32 meters and 40 rooms in the pavilions. The whole temple is a wooden frame structure. The holes are dug on the steep cliff and the beams are inserted as the base. The pavilions are connected by plank roads. They lean against the steep cliffs and overlook the deep valley. The temple is not big, but it is ingenious and quite spectacular. Li Bai of the Tang Dynasty once visited the Hanging Temple and wrote the word "spectacular" on the rock wall. The sky is clear and the wind is smooth. Looking back at that year, the site selection of the Hanging Temple was really wonderful. It can be called a unique one in the world and left a valuable wealth to the world!
