Luoyang Bridge is not in Luoyang

Luoyang Bridge is a famous historical site in Quanzhou. Located at the mouth of the Luoyang River in Luoyang Town, Hui'an County, Quanzhou City, Fujian Province, Luoyang Bridge is the oldest existing cross-sea beam stone bridge in China. It is known as the "First Bridge in the World" and is one of the "Four Famous Ancient Bridges" in China. Construction of Luoyang Bridge began in the fifth year of the Huangyou period of the Northern Song Dynasty (1053) under the supervision of Cai Xiang, the prefect of Quanzhou. It took six years and eight months to complete, and was finished in the fourth year of the Jiayou period (1059). The bridge not only solved the transportation problems of the people on both sides of the river at that time, but also witnessed the glorious history of Quanzhou as an important node on the ancient Maritime Silk Road. In July 2021, Quanzhou was included in the World Cultural Heritage List, and Luoyang Bridge became one of the 22 representative ancient sites. Luoyang Bridge is not only an important historical site in Quanzhou, but also the first large stone bridge in China. It is now a national key cultural relic protection unit. The bridge has affiliated cultural relics such as Zhongting, Xichuan Ganyu Pavilion, and Zhaohui Temple, which showcase its rich historical and cultural background.
