Mount Hua

Mount Hua, located in Huayin City, Weinan, Shaanxi Province, is about 120 kilometers east of Xi'an. It borders the Qinling Mountains to the south and overlooks the Yellow River and Wei River to the north. It has been known since ancient times as 'the most precipitous mountain under heaven'. Mount Hua, historically known as 'Western Peak', is also elegantly called 'Mount Taihua' and is one of the Five Great Mountains of China. The 'Hua' in China originates from Mount Hua, hence it is also referred to as 'the Root of Chinese civilization'. Mount Hua is a sacred place of the Quanzhen School, which is the mainstream sect of Taoism in China. The vegetation of the Mount Hua range is extensive, with a wide variety of flora and fauna. The main peaks of Mount Hua are the East, West, South, North, and Central peaks. Main attractions: Western Peak Temple, Golden Lock Pass, Canglong Ridge, Plank Walkway in the Sky, Thousand-Foot Pillar, Hundred-Foot Gorge, Turning of the Sparrowhawk, Laojun Plough Ditch, The First Cave Under Heaven, Maiden's Cave, Quanzhen Rock, and the Temple of True Warrior. Shaanxi is famous as the 'capital of carbohydrates', with signature dishes such as biangbiang noodles, Tongguan roujiamo, liangpi, pao mo, and steamed rice cake, among others.
