Take advantage of the good weather, let's go hiking in the mountains near Quarry Bay. This road is really easy to walk. You can enter from the intersection next to the Seaview Building on Emperor Road. There is the entrance to Berkshire Hill Road. Walk a few steps along the road to see the neighboring Quarry Bay Municipal Building. After turning a few corners and walking up for about 10 minutes, you will see the former Pacific Sugar Factory and Pacific Dockyard European Staff Quarters, commonly known as the "Red House". There are three exhibition galleries in the center that showcase Hong Kong’s beautiful natural environment and ecology. Next to the center is the Eastern Saltwater Water Supply Reservoir, which has been converted into a park for morning exercisers to relax. Walking further up the road, you can see different entrances to the "Quarry Bay Tree Study Trail", "Golden Tak Riding Trail" and "Campa Country Trail", depending on how much time you have to wander. This time my hiking route did not end at Mount Pina, but walked towards the signs towards Tai Tam Tuk Reservoir. Along the way you pass two scenic barbecues surrounded by mountains. Next to the barbecue site No. 4 is a row of more than ten unusually tall trees with three-lobed leaves, a bit like maple leaves. In fact, they are Hong Kong's native tree species, maple scent, the protagonists of Tai Tong's "photography hotspot". In autumn, the maple leaves turn from lush green to orange-red, forming a gorgeous sea of ​​​​red. Soon we saw the edge of Tai Tam Tuk Reservoir. Most of Tai Tam was converted into several reservoirs in stages between 1883 and 1917 (including Tai Tam Upper Reservoir, Tai Tam Sub Reservoir, Tai Tam Middle Reservoir and Tai Tam Tuk Reservoir) to supply drinking water to Hong Kong Island. The Tai Tam Reservoir hiking route introduced this time is a section of Tai Tam Reservoir Road near Tai Tam Tuk Reservoir. This section is a flatter asphalt road with no steps throughout, making it convenient and easy to walk. These include the construction of Tai Tam Middle Reservoir and dam. You can follow the Tai Tam Water Works Heritage Trail to visit the five classic historical artifacts one by one. The four stone bridges at Tai Tam Tuk Reservoir are the main passages connecting the reservoirs and the country park. The material is granite, the structure is arched, and the top of the bridge is decorated with flying eaves. The dam and four stone bridges are listed as legal monuments.
