One-day trip to Ping Chau | Stroll around the Secret Garden. Searching for the "Hong Kong version of the sinking bridge". Stroll along Dongwan Beach

This is my fourth visit to Ping Chau, mainly for leisurely sightseeing and to make up for the attractions I missed before! We took the 12:45pm ferry and arrived at Ping Chau at around 1:24pm Stop 1: Ping Chau Secret Garden (Ping Chau Leather Factory) This may be the most famous attraction in Ping Chau. I missed it the first three times I visited. It seems this may be one of the reasons why I keep coming to Ping Chau! I didn’t find the alley the first time, I didn’t go in the second time because it was dark, and the third time I didn’t have enough time for hiking. The fourth time I came to Ping Chau, I finally walked into the hidden alley and entered the secret garden of Ping Chau! Ping Chau Secret Garden is located in a very hidden alley on Wing On Street in Ping Chau. It was formerly a cowhide factory opened in the 1930s. Later, it closed down due to the decline of the industry. In 2010, it was listed as a Grade 3 historical monument by the Antiquities and Monuments Office and then revitalized into a "Secret Garden". Abandoned old objects are arranged into an artistic small garden, carrying the history of Ping Chau and the stories of the islanders! Every corner is so unique. Fortunately, I am on a leisurely tour this time, so I can appreciate it slowly and carefully! There is a very dreamy spot inside, which is also the most popular spot for people to check in and take photos in Ping Chau. However, it is a little difficult to get up there. You have to climb a ladder and the space up there is relatively narrow. You have to be careful when going up, and not too many people can go up there at the same time! There is a place full of clocks near the stairs, which reminds me of "Alice in Wonderland"! There is also a turtle pond nearby, and those turtles are quite big! A match factory boundary marker from the 1930s was also found in the secret garden. It is estimated that the villagers moved here and preserved it when the match factory buildings were demolished! Stop 2: Ping Chau Theatre Site Ping Chau Theatre was once the second theatre located on an outlying island that was inaccessible to vehicles, in addition to Cheung Chau Theatre. It opened on February 7, 1978, but closed in 1987 due to a long-term lack of attendance. It has been abandoned for many years and has not been rated. It is unknown whether it will be revitalized in the future! We came to the old site of Ping Chau Theatre to look for traces of the theatre. We only saw the word "theater" on the front door, and only the words "Ping Chau Theatre" and "theater exit" were clearly visible at the back door! Stop 3: Ping Chau Tung Wan Beach Ping Chau Tung Wan Beach is a place I pass by every time I come to Ping Chau. The weather was very good that day and the sky was very blue. I couldn’t help but stay here for a while and take some photos! Because it was winter when we went there and we didn’t bring slippers, we didn’t go to the beach! We walked along the Tung Wan Beach and saw many urban landscapes from a distance. When we reached almost the end of the beach, we could see the ICC (International Commerce Centre), West Kowloon area, IFC (International Financial Centre) and buildings in the West area of Hong Kong Island in the distance! Stop 4: Dali Island "Dali Island" is located in the northwest of Ping Chau and is connected to Ping Chau by a bridge. I have been there on the hiking route of Ping Chau last time. At that time, I thought the name "Dali Island" was very similar to the names of some Japanese islands. Then soon there was a saying on the Internet that Dali Island is the "Hong Kong version of the sinking bridge". As someone who has been to the sinking bridge in Sichuan, Japan, I think it does look a bit similar from the angle of the picture below! Walking across the bridge connecting to Dali Island, the scenery along the way is beautiful, but the wind on the bridge is very strong, so it is not advisable to stay for long. It is the kind of wind that will give you a headache! This is also a good place to enjoy the sunset, but unfortunately it was very cloudy that day and we couldn’t see the salted egg yolk sunset! #HongkongGoodPlaces #SuburbanGoodPlaces #LocalTourism #PingzhouEastWan #PingzhouCheck-in #PingzhouSecretGarden #Pingzhou #PingzhouHideFactory #DaLiIsland
