When you arrive at Cape D'Aguilar Marine Reserve, you can't help but exclaim, "Hong Kong actually has such a beautiful coastline!" The blue sky and sea, free from any commercial activities, no tall buildings, no pollution (though people sometimes litter by the roadside 😤). It feels like visiting a mini Okinawa in Hong Kong or a quiet area outside the bustling city, peaceful, comfortable, and uplifting for the spirit. 🩵 The weather is hot, and the seawater 🌊 looks like it’s been dried into salt. 📖 A little science: Cape D'Aguilar Marine Reserve was designated in July 1996. The purpose of establishing the marine reserve is to conserve marine resources, support scientific research, and educate the public to cherish precious marine resources. To protect the important organisms and their habitats within the reserve, except for approved scientific research activities, general water and coastal recreational activities such as swimming, boating, fishing, or collecting wild plants or animals or parts thereof are not allowed within the marine reserve. Public visits to the reserve are also discouraged, so there are no public facilities such as trash bins or toilets within the reserve. In terms of landforms, the reserve features rocky shores shaped by wind and waves, a common terrain at Hong Kong’s southeastern capes and headlands. The steep granite shore is rugged and uneven, with irregular stone steps, vertical faces up to 1 meter high, and narrow rock shelves. When waves surge, temporary small pools form. The biodiversity within Cape D'Aguilar Marine Reserve is quite rich, including various fish species, stony corals, soft corals, gorgonian corals, and marine invertebrates. 🌊🌊🌊 #EveryoneIsResponsible Take your own trash with you. Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays: From Central (Star Ferry Pier), take Citybus X9 and get off at "Cape D'Aguilar" stop to start hiking. This bus has fewer trips. Central starting service times on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays: 10:30, 11:30 Shek O ending service times: Saturdays (fixed schedule): 16:30, 17:00, 17:30, 18:00 Sundays and public holidays: 16:30–19:00 (every 15-30 minutes) Great place to visit
