Big Wave Bay, Surf and Sand Days

#chinatravel Big Wave Bay in the Southern District of Hong Kong is that beach that feels a little cooler than the rest. Like yeah, there’s sand and sun, but there’s also surfers everywhere and a super laid back vibe that makes you wanna stay all day. I took the hike from Dragon’s Back and ended up right at the beach which was the perfect way to finish the walk. You can totally skip the hike though and just bus straight in if you’re in lazy mode. The waves here are actually decent for surfing which is rare in HK, so there’s always people paddling out and trying to catch something. There’s a small village vibe near the entrance with little shops, snacks and cold drinks. Not fancy but gets the job done. The beach itself isn’t huge but it’s got character. Good mix of locals and travelers just doing their thing. Big Wave Bay is super chill and always a good time.
