Taipei Duo Ban

This is my second visit to the Taiwanese restaurant "Taipei Duo Ban," located on the 5th floor of The Wai Mall. Their afternoon tea sets are very affordable, starting at just $46, and include a designated hot drink. You can also pay extra to upgrade to other beverages! 1. Braised Beef Noodles with Traditional Braised Pork Rice $58 + Taro Pearl Milk Tea $12 (9.5/10) This set includes a bowl of braised beef noodles and traditional braised pork rice. The beef in the noodles is tender, and the noodles are chewy and springy, resembling slightly narrower flat noodles. The braised pork rice comes with a soft-boiled egg that’s slightly salty, and the braised pork is well-suited to Hong Kong tastes—not too sweet, with a good balance of fat and lean meat. For an additional $12, I ordered the taro pearl milk tea, which had a strong taro flavor. The pearls were chewy and not hard, and the drink wasn’t overly sweet. 2. Salted Crispy Chicken with Meat Floss Braised Pork Rice, Seaweed Meatball Soup, and Sweet Potato Chips $62 + Brown Sugar Pearl Milk Tea $12 (8.5/10) The salted crispy chicken had too much batter and was a bit salty, with five pieces in total. The braised pork rice had the same slightly salty soft-boiled egg and well-balanced braised pork as the first set. The seaweed meatball soup was very salty, and the meatballs were cut into four small pieces. For an additional $12, I ordered the brown sugar pearl milk tea, which had chewy pearls and a slightly sweet taste. 3. Penghu Lychee Shrimp Balls (6 pieces) $62 (9.5/10) These were crispy on the outside and shaped like lychees, with shrimp paste inside. There were six pieces in total, and they were quite good! 4. Salted Egg Yolk Taro Pastry (3 pieces) $46 (10/10) These were served piping hot, indicating they were freshly fried to order. The salted egg yolk and taro flavors complemented each other perfectly. There were three pieces in total, and this is a must-try item! 5. Aiwen Mango Green Tea $19 (6/10) When ordering snacks, drinks are half-price. Originally priced at $38, this drink lacked both mango and green tea flavors and wasn’t worth the price. Total for two people: $298, plus an additional service charge.
