Renaissance Hong Kong Harbour View Hotel

It has been seven years since my last visit to Hong Kong in 2017—time flies so fast. Back then, I traveled to Hong Kong frequently due to work in Shenzhen. I had passed by the Renaissance Hotel several times and even visited the nearby convention center, yet I never had the chance to stay there. This time, as I had a layover in Hong Kong, I specifically booked this hotel. Karis Cheng assisted me with check-in, and I must say, she was truly outstanding—warm yet not overbearing, polite yet not overly formal. Among all the Marriott properties I have stayed at, her service ranks among the best. In fact, this was the first time I proactively asked a staff member for their name. The moment I pushed open the door to my room, my mind went blank except for one word: “Wow.” The stunning view before me instantly made up for any shortcomings the hotel might have—it was simply breathtaking. The Executive Lounge is located on the 41st floor, and to be honest, it is the busiest and most crowded lounge I have ever seen. Not because the space is too small, but because there were just so many guests. The evening cocktail service starts at 6:30 PM, but when I arrived around 8:00 PM, I still had to wait for a seat. The scene felt more like a popular social hotspot than a typical hotel lounge. The staff, however, were clearly accustomed to this level of activity—they handled everything with ease, warmly greeting guests and swiftly clearing tables. Breakfast was equally bustling. Even close to 10:00 AM, there was still a wait for tables. Platinum and above members can access the Executive Lounge for breakfast from 6:30 AM, but since I had already visited the lounge the night before, I opted for breakfast downstairs. The selection was decent—nothing particularly outstanding, but overall satisfactory. However, one thing that stood out to me was that unlike most luxury hotels, where staff typically take drink orders after seating guests, here, the host only guided guests to their tables without asking for their beverage preferences. I assume this was due to how busy the staff were, which is understandable. Since this was my first time staying at this Renaissance, I’m not sure how its occupancy rate typically is. However, if high occupancy is the norm, increasing staffing levels could greatly enhance the guest experience. Otherwise, service quality may suffer. That being said, my overall experience was still very pleasant. If I visit Hong Kong again, I would likely choose to stay here once more.
