Lantau Island

Hong Kong weekend hiking to Lantau Island Ever since I was young, I've seen the scenes from 'Infernal Affairs' and finally stepped into reality. This huge Buddha statue was crafted in Nanjing last century, transported in many parts to Lantau Island, Hong Kong, and then assembled. Taking the cable car offers a very beautiful view, the whole journey takes about 20 minutes, and you can see the sea view and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. After going up the mountain, you ultimately walk up 268 steps to reach the top, which is very shocking and spectacular. The Buddha statue is well-maintained and looks new, and there is also a temple at the foot of the mountain for worship. At the summit, I also encountered a large patch of dark clouds passing by, the sultry heat and the wind alternating, a very special experience and landscape. But overall, I was super lucky as that day was the best weather in the recent week~ Some small tips: 1. It is recommended to buy cable car tickets in advance, otherwise, there will be a long queue on-site. There are three types of cable car tickets, and the panoramic one offers the best view and is most suitable for taking photos (fully transparent). Those who are afraid of heights should choose carefully. 2. After descending the mountain, you can go to Tai O to enjoy some seafood and stroll around, but be sure to go to the port early to queue for the boat. The last boat is at six o'clock and it's not punctual. Because we didn't queue up in advance, by the time it was our turn, there were no seats left, so we had to take the bus back. Make sure to take sun protection measures, wear comfortable shoes, and stay hydrated. Walking, queuing, and waiting for the bus in this weather is still quite strenuous.
