Hong Kong Day 2 of 2 Itinerary!!

Sights visited on Day 2: - Lantau Island - Ngong Ping Village - Tian Tan Buddha - Citygate Outlets 🌃We stayed in Wan Chai district during our stay in Hong Kong. From the Wan Chai subway station it takes about an hour or so to get to the bottom of the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car. 🚆Take the Port Island Line 2 stops (4 minutes) to Central. Then walk ~10 minutes to the Hong Kong stop (mostly underground). Take the Dongchong Line 7 stops (25 minutes) to Tung Chung. 🚠From here make your way to the ride the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car. Ticket prices for adult round trips are: 💴Standard Cabin: 295 HK$ Crystal Cabin: 365 HK$ Crystal+ Cabin: 545 HK$ Combo (Crystal Cabin one way + Standard Cabin one way): 330 HK$ 🪷Take in the amazing views on the 25 minute journey. This takes you to Ngong Ping Village, which is full of various food and shopping experiences. Next, make your way up the 268 steps to reach the Tian Tan Buddha. From here, head back down the steps and over to the Po Lin Monastery. 🚠Once we finished touring around these areas, we took the cable cars back down the island and then explored the CityGate Outlets, a large shopping centre at the foot of the Ngong Ping Cable Cars. This took us to about 17:00, when we took the Metro back into Wan Chai. 🍱Lastly, we spent the evening wandering the streets of the Wan Chai district, where there are endless shops to explore and great food spots. Tian Tan Buddha

Exploring Hong Kong’s epic Tian Tan Buddha is a bucket-list moment for any traveler 🙌. Perched on Lantau Island and towering over lush mountains, this iconic statue is all about jaw-dropping views, spiritual vibes, and a little bit of stairway cardio. Must-See Spot: 🌄 Tian Tan Buddha Address: Ngong Ping Rd, Lantau Island, Hong Kong Opening Hours: 10:00–17:30 (open every day!) You’ll need to climb 268 steps to reach the Buddha itself—fair warning, but the scenic payoff at the top is absolutely worth it. The climb isn’t too intense and you can stop to admire the clouds, fog, and panoramic nature views surrounding the statue. Try visiting early in the day or right before closing to dodge tourist crowds and catch some dramatic weather shifts—one moment it’s sunny, the next it’s mysterious mist! Practical tips: – Wear comfy shoes for the climb. Those stairs are no joke! – Bring a lightweight jacket; the weather can change super fast, swinging from sunny to cloudy and rainy. – If you want peaceful vibes, time your visit for weekdays or early hours. – Great spot for close-up architecture shots! – You can grab vegetarian food from the nearby monastery—it’s tasty and cheap. Getting there: Hop on the MTR to Tung Chung station, then board the Ngong Ping 360 cable car for killer views (or take a local bus if you want to save cash). Lantau Island

Hong Kong adventure? Absolutely! 🚠 I did a day trip out to Lantau Island—hit up the iconic Ngong Ping 360 cable car, squeezed in some hiking, and watched the sunset golden hour that totally lit up my feed. 🌅 Top Spots to Visit: - Ngong Ping 360: Start your day with this epic cable car ride from Tung Chung to the Ngong Ping Village—panoramic views of the island and South China Sea are next-level! - Lantau Island: The island’s hiking trails are open all day (Hong Kong Outlying Islands, Lantau Island)—do the wisdom trail loop or trek toward Sunset Peak for killer scenery. - Sunset Watch: Head up the hiking path about 1.5 hours before sunset for those golden hour pics (seriously, don’t forget your power bank for the phone-cam marathon). Personal tips: Book your Ngong Ping 360 tickets on trip.com ahead of time to skip the queues! If you want a more chill hike, bring light snacks and some extra water—Lantau’s breezy but the hills can be real. For the sunset, hang out at the higher lookouts, your Insta will thank you. Getting there & Around: Catch the MTR to Tung Chung, then walk to Ngong Ping 360 terminal. Cable car drops you straight at the village for easy hiking access. Local buses also cruise all over the island if you need a backup plan. What to Eat: Grab a tofu pudding in Ngong Ping Village—famous for a reason! Or refuel with noodles at a tiny shop after your hike. Extra tips: No visa needed for most travelers. Hong Kong dollar cash is easiest. Weather? Humidity’s real, so pack a light layer. #hkonbudget #LantauIsland #NgongPing360 #HongKongHikes #GoldenHour #tripdotcom
