Kennedy Town, a popular photo spot in Hong Kong

It is located at the western end of the Central and Western District on Hong Kong Island, with Mount Davis to the south, Belcher Bay to the north, Sulphur Channel to the west separating it from the Little and Big Green Islands, and connected to Shek Tong Tsui to the east; the area includes the intersection of Western Street and Belcher's Street with Queen's Road West. Kennedy Town is one of the earliest developed areas in Hong Kong and was part of the original Victoria City. In the initial zoning of Hong Kong, which was divided into four rings and nine districts, Kennedy Town belonged to the Western District and the First District (from Kennedy Town to Shek Tong Tsui), according to Hong Kong Government Gazette No. 331 dated August 26, 1886, the area was originally named Kennedy Town, later written as Kennedy Town, and has only been abbreviated to Kennedy Town in recent years. The westernmost part of Kennedy Town, such as the area near Sai Wan Estate, is colloquially known as 'Sai Wan Tail,' meaning the end of Sai Wan. Due to its location at the westernmost fringe of Hong Kong Island, the development of Kennedy Town has been slower than that of the Central and Sheung Wan areas, Wan Chai, Causeway Bay, and North Point after World War II. Kennedy Town has long been considered a more remote residential area in the Island District, with high-end residential developments starting from the year 2000.
