🥾🇭🇰 Hiking in Hong Kong 🇭🇰🥾
We completed the coastal path around Hong Kong Island! Totalling 65km, it took us 3 days. Fantastic experience to explore the variety that the island has to offer.
The views were spectacular, of both natural and
urban scenery. Some highlights were Repulse beach (quite the opposite of repulsive), Kennedy town, and the Dragon's Back trail.
Most of the coastal path is on the actual coast, but some stretches require a detour inland. There was a lot of building work happening in the north west of the island, presumably when finished will improve the path in that area.
Top tips: Pre-planning accommodation is essential. Plenty of public toilets on the route. Public transport is also VERY efficient if needed. Highly recommend the walk, we thoroughly enjoyed it.

A 4-day, 3-night retro journey on foot through Hong Kong
Hong Kong is truly what I consider to be an excellent destination for short trips of 3-4 days. Having undergone the turning of the wheels of time, the blend of old and new cultures gives this city a kaleidoscope of colors. Whether it's the Hong Kong films in my memory or the Cantopop music, they all inspire endless longing and daydreams. I love Hong Kong, I love traveling, and this time, after a three-year hiatus, I set foot on a Hong Kong journey again, walking 30,000 steps each day, traversing my 'playlist' and my 'movie list'.
.
🎡 Itinerary
DAY1️⃣: Arrive in Hong Kong in the morning—Sai Ying Pun—Kennedy Town—Take the tram—Monster Building in Quarry Bay
DAY2️⃣: Check in at MTR stations (Mong Kok-Yau Ma Tei)—Nathan Road—Yau Ma Tei Police Station—Neon signs on Bowring Street in Mong Kok
DAY3️⃣: Central Market—Tsim Sha Tsui—Avenue of Stars in Victoria Harbour—Central Ferris Wheel—Take the cable car to Victoria Peak to enjoy the night view
.
🎡 Attractions
☑️ Kennedy Town: Fulfill your romantic fantasies of the harbor, enjoy a cup of coffee in the sea breeze and quietly wait for the sunset, and you can also take the tram here for a different scenic tour
☑️ Mong Kok: The street scenes of Mong Kok really transport you back to the 80s and 90s in an instant, every snapshot is retro Hong Kong style. The neon signs on Bowring Street are classic elements of the golden age of movies, standing under the signs captures the bizarre and dazzling scenes from Wong Kar-wai's films
☑️ Victoria Harbour: Stroll along the Avenue of Stars, check in with the handprints and statues of celebrities, sit by the sea at dusk waiting for the sunset, and as night falls and the lights come on, the night view of Victoria Harbour gradually becomes dreamy and romantic
☑️ Central: Visit the Central Market to check in at the filming location of the movie 'Nameless', take a ride on the dreamy Ferris wheel for just 20 Hong Kong dollars, and try the classic ice cream from the Richman's ice cream cart
☑️ Nathan Road: The streets lined with tall buildings, the retro trams and taxis shuttle on the streets, making for a great photo backdrop
☑️ Victoria Peak: Take the cable car to the top of Victoria Peak at night to overlook the night view of the entire harbor
.
🎡 Some very useful tips
1️⃣ Transportation: Use Alipay/WeChat directly, open the ride code and switch the city to Hong Kong, then you can take the MTR, note that only the purple gate can be used (other transportation such as trams, buses, taxis require an Octopus card or cash)
2️⃣ Accommodation: It is recommended to stay in Kowloon or Hong Kong Island for convenience in sightseeing and food hunting
3️⃣ Hong Kong's temperature is quite stuffy and hot, be sure to do well in sun protection and heat avoidance when traveling in summer
4️⃣ Hong Kong uses British three-pin plugs, remember to bring a converter
5️⃣ Remember to activate additional data before departure
6️⃣ Many old-fashioned restaurants, food stalls, and snack shops in Hong Kong still only accept cash, remember to prepare more Hong Kong dollars
VictoriaMcDermott00
For this set of photos! I walked 30,000 steps in Hong Kong with my camera
The dense skyscrapers, the endless stream of people and vehicles...
I just love the street scenes of Hong Kong, it's like stepping into a Hong Kong movie.
Wandering the streets, I captured more than just these images.
Here's a must-shoot list of spots 📷, highly recommended to save!!
-
1. Kennedy Town
There are many streets leading to the sea, but the place where you can see the TVB minibus, the Ding Ding tram🚎, and the sunset seascape at the same time is here. Take the subway🚇 to Kennedy Town station exit C, look through the basketball court's chain-link fence, and even if many people have taken photos here, you have to get your own shot 📷.
-
2. Monster Building
🚇Island Line Quarry Bay 🧭Search for 'Monster Building' or Yick Cheong Building. The residential buildings here are very Hong Kong, surrounded by skyscrapers, giving a 3D magical world feeling~
-
3. North Point Fire Station
I regret not bringing an ultra-wide-angle lens. The pink checkerboard buildings and the red taxis are very eye-catching on the street, and it's that kind of comfort that satisfies my OCD!!
-
4. Arsenal Street
The Ding Ding tram and the mix of old and new architecture, just stand on the overpass and you can easily take great photos 📷. The characters on the road, full of Hong Kong style~
-
5. Sai Ying Pun Street
The church on the hillside⛪️, on an overpass in Sai Ying Pun, walking through several blocks all the way, it's great for taking photos. Both looking down the slope and looking up are perfect for shots 📷.

Life advice, finish this one-day tour route before leaving Hong Kong
As the Spring Festival is approaching, it's time to relax and have fun~
Since Guangzhou is adjacent to Hong Kong, I have walked this route 800 times from childhood to adulthood!
I recommend this most Hong Kong-style one-day citywalk to you~
🚩Itinerary: Monster Building - Methodist House - Central - Sai Ying Pun - Kennedy Town - Temple Street Night Market
🔸Monster Building
This is the Shanhai Building where Transformers was filmed, known as the Monster Building
The old E-shaped architectural structure and the huge building form a visually oppressive dense space
🚄Exit A of Quarry Bay Station (Island Line)
🔸Methodist House
From the pedestrian overpass opposite the building, you can see the Methodist House in the middle of the road forming a symmetrical structure with the environment, which is extremely comfortable for OCD!
🚄Exit A of Admiralty Station (Island Line)
🔸Central
Walking and taking photos in Central, the bustling CBD, the busy crowd, the full-flavored tram, all are showing you the Hong Kong style
Note that the once popular clock machine position is gone, the clock is dismantled, I don't know if it will be installed again~
There are Gage Street, Fringe Club, Immaculate Conception Cathedral, etc. in this area
🚄Exit A of Admiralty Station (Island Line)
·
🔸Sai Ying Pun
If Central is a commercial CBD area, then Sai Ying Pun is a Hong Kong-style fireworks
The wrong street, the near-sea view, gives this place a lot of special visuals
🚄Sai Ying Pun Station (Island Line)
🔸Kennedy Town
At Exit C of Kennedy Town MTR Station, you can find the popular photo spot that combines the elements of the street, tram, ferry, and sea
After taking the photos, walk towards the sea and feel the breeze, it's really comfortable
🚄Exit C of Kennedy Town (Island Line)
🔸Temple Street Night Market
If you need to return to West Kowloon, you can get off at Jordan Station on the way back to West Kowloon, and you can pass by Temple Street Night Market, which is suitable for shopping and eating, and tasting authentic Hong Kong snacks
Temple Street is also decorated with a very festive atmosphere during this period!
🚄Jordan Station (Tsuen Wan Line)

Complete Guide to Hong Kong Tourism
Hong Kong is a city that is both strange and familiar. It's my first time here, but walking on the streets can evoke memories of Hong Kong movies at any time🎞️
The retro romantic tram🚎, the busy and orderly pedestrians, the dense and modern high-rises, are unique to Hong Kong's retro and prosperity🇭🇰 It's very cinematic no matter how you shoot it🎬
Here are my 9⃣️ favorite spots in Hong Kong, remember to save them~
·
P1📍Bowie Mountain
Here you can enjoy a city night view that is no less than that of Victoria Peak. It's less crowded and off the beaten path. Navigate to "St. Joan of Arc Secondary School" and you can reach the top in 30 minutes.
P2📍Kennedy Town
The end of the road is the sea, wait for a tram🚎 to pass by with a telephoto lens, it's a postcard of Hong Kong. Navigate to the two-story basketball court on the left hand side of Kennedy Town Exit C.
P3📍Winstons coffee
It's just below the Kennedy Town basketball court. The dark-themed HONG KONG sign is great for photos, remember to buy a cup of coffee before shooting.
P4📍Third Street, Sai Ying Pun
It's an uphill section of road, the end of the road is the sea, capture the passing pedestrians and red taxis, it's very Hong Kong~
P5📍Tung Choi Street (Goldfish Street), Mong Kok
Goldfish Street at night really looks like a scene from a Wong Kar-wai movie, the red lights create a great atmosphere~
P6📍Mong Kok Bus
The streets are full of buses, at night under the red and green lights, it's full of Hong Kong flavor~ The spot is on the overpass at "Mong Kok MTR Station Exit B3"
P7📍Central Market
The spot is on the escalator of Central Market, the giant clock and the hurried pedestrians, it's like a frame of a movie🎬
P8📍Gun Club Street
Shoot from the overpass, the road surface full of road signs satisfies all my imaginations of Hong Kong, this is also a spot to shoot the tram.
P9📍Hoi Shan Building (Monster Building)
The densely packed residential buildings are one of my impressions of Hong Kong, shooting the tram and the residential buildings in the same frame, full of the old Hong Kong's market atmosphere.

Kennedy Town | Watch a sunset live route
Attracted by the atmosphere of Kennedy Town✨
Not only can you see the blue sea at the end of the road🌊
You can also enjoy the comfort of the coastal road🛣️
And you can watch a special sea sunset at the only remaining swimming shed🌄
This route stops and goes, and has a full atmosphere of Hong Kong style afternoon~
🚇Kennedy Town C exit ➠ %Arabica coffee shop ➠ Western District Swimming Shed➠ 🚌Back to Central
📷Location 1
📍Take the stairs on the left of the subway C exit, go all the way to the basketball court above, you can see many people taking pictures at the net wall on the right, it's here✔️There are many people but you won't wait long, it is recommended to bring a telephoto shot~I took it in the afternoon, the color of the sky is actually a bit bright, it might be better to come in the morning or evening
📷Location 2
📍Go to the left⬅️ at the intersection of the %Arabica coffee seaside coffee shop, there are few people here and it's very photogenic! And there is a tram stop, you can take it directly here
The entrance of the coffee shop, the first and second floors are full of people, but the coastline can actually go all the way to Central, the coastline along the way is very beautiful~If you want to take pictures near the coffee shop, you must follow the rules, don't stand on the road, there are often big cars passing by here
📷Location 3
📍Navigate to the Western District Swimming Shed
It takes about 15 minutes to walk from the coffee shop, 1.2 kilometers; you can also take a city bus to the Caritas Racecourse Dormitory, and walk down a plank road to get to the sea
🌄The sunset is very beautiful, the sea is sparkling, and it's very quiet around with only the sound of the waves~❗️But every time a boat passes by, the waves will get bigger, and the tide will wet the plank road in the evening, the waves are still very fierce.. Be sure to pay attention to safety when you go down to the plank road to take pictures!

I thought Macau was already beautiful! Until I went to Hong Kong
Before going abroad, I specifically flew to Hong Kong and walked 100,000 steps in Hong Kong just to take pictures of these romantic and lively places in Hong Kong. I also summarized this Hong Kong travel photography guide for you. Don't ask me where to go for the National Day anymore, isn't Hong Kong fragrant!
-
Photo check-in point recommendation + strategy: 1 Kennedy Town (Pictures 1-3)
The most extreme romantic Hong Kong seascape, the best position is at the Kennedy Town basketball court
2 Sai Ying Pun (Pictures 4-5)
The road to the sea is well-arranged, and the color levels are very rich
3 Monster Building/Yick Cheong Building (Pictures 6-7)
The filming location of the movie Transformers, when the tram meets the Monster Building 4 North Point (Pictures 8-9)
It can be said to be a treasure spot for taking pictures in Hong Kong, the tram and the lively atmosphere are all hidden here 5 Victoria Harbour (Pictures 10-11)
The ultimate romance of watching the sea by the window, even on rainy days, it belongs to Hong Kong
Recommended hotel:
InterContinental Hong Kong
The classic Hong Kong hotel, with an unbeatable sea view, excellent location, the Chinese restaurant in the InterContinental, Seaview Pavilion, can be said to be the ceiling-level Cantonese cuisine, and there is also a Tiffany's New York Whiskey Bar, which is a classic in Hong Kong. The quiet whiskey bar in the middle of the hustle and bustle, presenting the bustling New York in the 1920s, with over 300 kinds of whiskey
Other tips:
If you fly directly to Hong Kong from abroad or have a ticket from a third country, you can stay in Hong Kong for 7 days with your passport, so you don't need to apply for a Hong Kong and Macau pass separately

Hong Kong has something new on every street
Wasn’t really expecting anything as we walked to our hotel during dinner but then we ran into this show for a festival this time of year. An out door Chinese opera put on for the community. Also we got to burn ghost money for the festival and that was fun and interesting. Getting lost in Hong Kong is a little hard so I recommend just exploring and trying to get lost and found again this is how we found this out door Chinese opera that was very fun.#trip

Instagrammable spot in Kennedy Town
#hongkongtrip
The Sai Wan swimming shed, located about 15 to 20 minutes walk away from Kennedy Town, is a popular photospot that exudes a mysterious vibe especially at dawn and dusk. This place was used in the past when experienced swimmers have their swimming fix in the sea.
However, behind the instagrammable moments, it is so popular that there was an extremely long queue to wait for one's turn to take the shots. Also, the swimming shed is actually closed off with a metal gate. To access the wooden boardwalk leading towards the sea, you have to conquer railings and slippery rocks at the side of the metal gate. You will definitely need someone to help you take from over the metal gate, because if you try to use tripod, the strong waves can come onto the path and sweep it away.

Sooper Yoo
Totally missed this one out 😂 We were there before indoor playhouse required vaccine pass (VP) for kids under 12.
Having a 10,000 square foot space, Sooper Yoo offers a place to explore, climb, learn and play. There are different areas and sections, the first 2 are my kids’ favourite
1. Scramble Course is a 2-3 level maze with slides, climbers and obstacles along the way
2. Yoozoo Racer is an interactive game where kids run alongside animated animals to test their running speed on track
3. Sooper Slap is a game to test their agility and reaction
4. VR cave is pretty common now, virtual world with games, kids basically just smacking the wall to hit the target
There are other like Formula Yoo Sooper Loop (race remote control cars by riding the bike, for kids 130cm and above), Sooper Kix (a VR version of soccer game) and Digi Decks (table games on digital).
Kids think: ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Mom thinks: ⭐️ ⭐️
Well, it’s clean and new and fancy but it’s a been there done that thing for us. I highly doubt it’s for age 4 to 17. More likely suitable for age 4 to 8.
Although we prefer outdoor activities, I understand there are parents who feel more comfortable and safer being indoors, especially when the adults taking kids to play are grandparents or helpers.

Kennedy hidden gem Thai fusion restaurant
Really love their signature menu, 4 courses with different food choices, portion is just perfect for 2 ladies who can't eat much, great deal at $268.
Lobster crossiant is definitely their signature appetizer, tasted it years before and still can't forgot how amazing to have hot soup inside the bread, recommend everyone to give a try.
Grilled pork neck, meat is tendered and good match with the sour and spicy thai chilli sauce.
Grilled Skate Wing is not commonly appeared at HK restaurants, the fish texture is not bad and seems quite healthy, not fat at all.
We added morning glory, just can't resist this typical Thai dish.
Creme brulee wrap up the dinner decently, I like it not too sweet and has good balance with pineapple puree.
We both ordered drinks, coconut and Chamomile tea won't go wrong.

Great vehicle to take you to travel in environmentally friendly way
If you want to enjoy the view along Hong Kong Island, especially between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, in an environmentally friendly way, the tram is a must vehicle to try!
The tram is one of the earliest forms of public transport, run since 1904 under British rule. As it is a double-decker tram using the electoral system with open windows and slow speed, you will have enough time to see Hong Kong Island and enjoy the breeze. On top of that, the tram has a super low price. You only need to spend HK$.2 per trip. What else are you waiting for?

▫️4️⃣Go straight up the overpass and turn right, there is a photo spot that captures the characteristics of Hong Kong🇭🇰

🌊Kennedy Town - Sai Wan Swimming Shed
You can walk from Kennedy Town MTR station exit C for about 20min to get there
But I don't recommend it ❌ It's all uphill!
(Don't ask me how I know..
Taking the bus is also very convenient, a 2min ride takes you right to the swimming shed entrance
🚌From Kennedy Town MTR exit B - walk 120m to "Belcher's Street" - take bus route 971, 43M, or A10 to "Caritas Jockey Club Hostel" stop
⚠Be aware that the entrance to the swimming shed is quite small
There's about 150m of downhill stairs to walk down to get there
The stairs are a bit steep, so be careful~
You'll need to queue up for photos, there are still many girls there to check in, so allow plenty of time

Hong Kong | The Pearl of the Orient, still romantic
| The Pearl of the Orient, still romantic. 1⃣Sai Ying Pun—The human touch of Hong Kong
🍬Compared to the hustle and bustle of Central, this magically 8D-shaped Sai Ying Pun seems like a world from the movies, filled with the human touch of old Hong Kong🌆
✅️Tips: You can have lunch here and then walk to the second stop, Shek Tong Tsui.
2⃣Shek Tong Tsui—Hong Kong's romantic sunset thrill ride
🍬Encountering the Shek Tong Tsui thrill ride while street-sweeping is both romantic and stunning‼️
✅️Tips: After taking photos here, you have two choices: walk directly to Kennedy Town; or take a taxi to Sai Wan Swimming peng
3⃣Sai Wan Swimming peng
🍬The sea, wooden bridge, cruise ship, sunset, all the romance you want is here! Walk down the steps for 3 minutes through the woods, and the romance is all in sight🚦🎇

Three dollars of happiness on the streets of Hong Kong!
In the high-priced Hong Kong, to experience the joy in the swaying of the Ding Ding tram on King's Road, it only costs three dollars! With three dollars, you can travel from Kennedy Town to Shau Kei Wan, slowly enjoying the scenery along the way.
I started from the Bank Street at Central's Exchange Square, following the Ding Ding tram eastward, witnessing a Hong Kong filled with the smoke and fire of life: there are the dignified entrances and exits of the CBD's white-collar workers, as well as the old shops standing in rows, the bustling buses, and the working people of the harbor...
Until getting off at Wai On Estate on King's Road, in search of the Monster Building, the filming location for 'Transformers': a combination of a typical Hong Kong street market and surrounding buildings, consisting of the Fuk Cheong Building, Yick Cheong Building, Yick Fat Building, Oceanic Building, and Sea View Building, forming an E-shaped space, a microcosm of Hong Kong's great fusion of life.
Hong Kong is known for its dense and oppressive living conditions due to its large population and small land area, and this Monster Building epitomizes these characteristics to the extreme.
The scene of the Ding Ding tram passing by the skyscrapers is like entering an old movie.
On the way back, walk towards Quarry Bay, browse the vegetable market, and experience the daily life of the locals.
If you get tired of walking, you can take the Ding Ding tram again to Causeway Bay, Wan Chai, or Admiralty, stroll through the malls, and taste the local cuisine, which is truly a fireworks enjoyment.
🌈Highlight: Ding Ding tram, the cheapest sightseeing transport in Hong Kong
🚗Address & Transportation:
King's Road, the main section of the Ding Ding tram from Kennedy Town to Shau Kei Wan. Monster Building, located on the south side of King's Road on Hong Kong Island, between the MTR Quarry Bay Station and Tai Koo Station,
it is recommended to take the Ding Ding tram. Hong Kong Tramways Ding Ding Tram
✨Tips: The Monster Building is actually just a densely populated old residential area, famous because of the movie 'Transformers'. It is located near Wai On Estate on King's Road, and you can see it by entering through the door next to a bakery called 'Ho Hei Bun Shop'.
It's a private place, keep quiet, and do not disturb the residents' lives.

HK is the perfect place for street photography
A friend mentioned to me that Kennedy Town is very picturesque, and since I was planning a trip to Hong Kong, I decided to stop by. I didn't follow the typical influencer recommendations for photo spots; I just wanted to take a leisurely walk.
📍Detailed Address:
Kennedy Town is located on the westernmost side of Hong Kong Island. The area is not only home to the University of Hong Kong and Sai Ying Pun, which are popular for street photography, but it also boasts unique sunset sea views that attract many people to come and take pictures. If you have time, I suggest walking along the tram route to see many beautiful hidden street scenes.
❤Recommended Reason:
Kennedy Town showcases the romance of Hong Kong Island, with its constant flow of people and never-ending stream of vehicles, to the fullest. Coming here when the sun is about to set, you can witness a unique sunset.
🧳Preparation Before Coming:
Wear comfortable shoes to walk along the streets and soak up the city's atmosphere. You can bring a camera to take photos and document your street exploration.

Kennedy Town in Hong Kong is really a great place to take photos at the Sai Wan Swimming Shed
The wooden walkway stretches out to the sea
Walking on it, it creaks
The waves beat against the rocks below with abandon🪨
Sitting at the end of the walkway
You can enjoy the unique romance of the sea
.
It's not very crowded now, so you can take photos freely
You can capture atmospheric shots in minutes
When you come to Kennedy Town, you must also stop by the Sai Wan Swimming Shed
