Cost-effective campsite barbecue with outdoor pool

On the weekend, I invited four friends, a group of 13 people, to the Lions Club-YMCA Tseung Kwan O Camp for a barbecue. We had fun for five hours and it was a great experience! The Lions Club-YMCA Tseung Kwan O Youth Camp is a recreational facility under the Hong Kong YMCA or (YMCA). It offers overnight camping and day camping, where you can camp, barbecue, and rent venues for group activities. We set out from Sai Ying Pun MTR Station at 2:30 pm and took a taxi from Yau Tong Station to the camp. The outdoor swimming pool can be used after 4 o'clock. The children are very excited to see the swimming pool. There are safety guards, swimming rings and floats, so they don't need to bring their own. The swimming pool is surrounded by open views and fresh air. There is a spacious and bright auditorium at the entrance of the camp where you can play ball games and chess. The room is air-conditioned and cool and comfortable. The barbecue time is from 6pm to 9:30pm, and the price is HK$170 per person for adults and HK$150 per person for children aged 3-11 years old; the charges will increase by HK$20 per person during the summer vacation from July to August; children under three years old are free. Self-service BBQ, all-you-can-eat food and drinks, including chicken wings, pork and beef steaks, squid, various fish balls, steamed dumplings, red sausages, and scones, etc.; vegetables include corn, cabbage, and mixed mushrooms; staple foods include bread slices, and ice cream cups have been newly added. The staff will prepare the charcoal fire at six o'clock. We haven't had an outdoor barbecue for a long time, so we are quite excited. After seeing the charcoal fire is lit, we can't wait to put the food on. The fire is very strong, and we don't have time to turn the food over and it gets burnt. It was the first time for the children to play like this, and everyone had a lot of fun trying it out. Be patient and don't be anxious. There is enough time. After the charcoal is burned, use the red-hot charcoal to grill it to achieve a crispy outside and tender inside taste. I was worried that the barbecue might not be spicy enough, so I brought my own chili sauce and cumin powder. Actually, these were also provided. My friend wrapped the cabbage and mushrooms in tin foil, sprinkled them with chili sauce, and slowly grilled them over charcoal fire. It tasted amazing! After roasting for about two hours, everyone was full. The children played games and had fun, while the adults gathered together to chat. Everyone came from all over the world and had many topics to talk about, and they talked happily. We returned at 8:30. As it was difficult to get a taxi, we chose to walk to the nearest Po Lam MTR station, which was about 3.5 kilometers. If you don't have enough energy, it is recommended to book a taxi in advance. There is food, drinks and entertainment. The swimming pool is clean, the food is fresh, and the venue is spacious. It is suitable for family and friends gatherings.
