Sham Shui Po Public Library will be fully operational from March 30 (Thursday), providing comprehensive and diversified library services to residents in the district, allowing citizens to enjoy the pleasure of reading in a quiet and comfortable environment. The library’s student study room has been providing services since October 2022. Sham Shui Po Public Library is located on the ground floor and first floor of the Sham Shui Po Leisure and Cultural Building, 38 Sham Mong Road. It has a collection of about 170,000 items, including Chinese and English books and CDs, as well as more than 150 local and overseas newspapers and magazines for citizens to read. In addition to the adult library and the children's library, the new library also has a multimedia library, a computer information centre, self-service borrowing and renewal services, a self-service return service and an extension activity room. The library regularly organizes various forms of promotional activities, including book exhibitions, children's story time, special lectures, reader education activities, etc., to enhance citizens' interest in reading. The library also welcomes schools and cultural and educational institutions to make appointments for group visits to learn more about the library’s facilities and services. In addition, the multi-purpose display and reading area of ​​the Hong Kong Central Library on the first floor of the library will regularly hold special exhibitions to introduce its collections and documents. It will also broadcast library online programs or live broadcast special lectures held by the Hong Kong Central Library to promote the library's collections and activities. The opening hours of Sham Shui Po Public Library are from 12 noon to 8 pm on Mondays, from 9 am to 8 pm from Tuesday to Saturday, and from 9 am to 5 pm on Sundays and public holidays.
