When you think of the trilogy, you know that there should be a continuation of this collection, as the first limited edition whiskey in the collection, this exhibition showcases the process of brewing whiskey by The Macallan’s pioneers. The limited-time exhibition is open to the public from October 6 to October 21 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Step into the exhibition doors and immediately see the main character John Grant! The Laird of Easter Elchies (1659 - 1715) is The Macallan's tribute to Captain John Grant. Captain John Grant saw the potential of the Easter Elchies estate in 1700 and founded The Macallan distillery in 1824. Capt. John Grant was born in a remote area on the banks of the River Spey in 1659. As a young man, he joined the army and fought on the sands to the rank of captain. The Grant family has owned the land since 1543; After his hometown, he inherited the wasteland from his family and rebuilt it as the garden of Elchies—the founding site of The Macallan. See the view of River Spey from the ground screen and drawings on both sides of the tunnel to learn how John Grant built his estate. In 1700, he expanded and renovated the Easter Elchies House, now The Macallan Spiritual Manor, which also features a 1700 replica of the manor's door sign. “Tales of The Macallan Volume I Legendary Beginnings Series First Part” inherits the spirit of Captain John Grant and is crafted by Sarah Burgess, The Macallan’s chief brewer. Distilled in 1950 and bottled in 2021, this whiskey is extraordinary for its exceptional flavor and personality. There is a room on site that displays the four seasons view of the manor from the top, bottom, left and right screens. 🍾 Cleverly crafted wine bottles and packaging This single malt whiskey is served in a precious handmade crystal bottle created by French brand Lalique and encapsulated in a unique yearbook. The Macallan and British printmaker Andrew, who is also committed to craftsmanship and creative creation Davidson worked together to create this art-filled annals. Andrew Davidson, known for his traditional woodblock printmaking techniques, has carefully illustrated each chapter for this yearbook, telling the story of Captain John Grant vividly. To create the most unique packaging for this rare whiskey, The Macallan combines master craftsmanship such as crystal, leather goods and paper art. Longtime partner Lalique has once again created a flawless crystal bottle for The Macallan, with beautiful illustrations created by Andrew Davidson engraved on the bottle. Lalique and The Macallan, also committed to craftsmanship and the pursuit of innovation, have worked together to create a range of exquisite crystal bottles and whiskey creations since their first collaboration in 2005. The Beginnings of Legends Collection turns a new page on this long-term partnership and is another testament to the two brands’ shared pursuit of excellence. Traditional London binders Shepherds, Sangorski & Sutcliffe and Zaehnsdorf have handcrafted exclusive books for this legendary whiskey using premium leather and 24k gold foil, hiding the gorgeous classics between the pages. The inside pages of the books are printed page by page to a professional standard by the Paris-based craft printing house Imprimerie du Marais. There is a virtual projection of the book sticker-style installation at the exhibition site, allowing you to read the story on each page and learn more about the story of the first volume packaging, word for word. Inspired by Andrew Davidson’s illustrations and paired with original music by Scottish violinist Nicola Benedetti, The Macallan has crafted an animated video to vividly recreate the life story of Captain John Grant. The Tales of The Macallan Volume I whiskey is limited to 350 bottles worldwide and will be available in Hong Kong from November 2021. The Hong Kong quota is only about 10 bottles.
