Hohhot｜Xilituzhao, after visiting the temple, you can feed the pigeons

🚗Xilituzhao is Mongolian for 'chief' or 'throne', and its Chinese name is 'Yanshou Temple'. The temple is named after the first Xilitu Living Buddha, who was the teacher of the Fourth Dalai Lama and presided over the temple for a long time. It was built during the Longqing and Wanli periods of the Ming Dynasty (1567-1619 AD) and was bestowed by Emperor Kangxi. 🚗The temple is located at the northern end of Shitou Alley in the old city of Hohhot, Yuhua District, facing south. It is diagonally opposite to Dazhao Wuliang Temple, separated by a road, and is one of the seven largest temples in Hohhot, being the largest temple in the city. The temple covers an area of 5,000 square meters. The buildings on the central axis include the archway, the mountain gate, the hall, the scripture hall, and the main hall. The main hall adopts a Tibetan-style structure, with the walls inlaid with colorful glazed bricks. The bronze-gilded treasure bottle, flying dragon, auspicious deer, and painted red doors in front of the hall create a strong artistic effect. The 'Stele of Merit for the Pacification of Galdan' made by Emperor Kangxi stands in front of the main hall. The scripture hall has seven bays and is resplendent with gold and jade. In the southeast corner of the temple, there is a white stone-carved stupa, 15 meters high, which is quite majestic. On both sides of the central axis, there are also bell towers, drum towers, pavilions, warehouses, and houses. The temple facilities are basically complete. 🚗If you want to visit, be sure to go early as they close quite early. Also, remember to wear long sleeves and pants. There are many pigeons at the entrance that children can feed, and pigeon food is available for sale.
