3 Days in Hikone

Spent 3 days in Hikone and really enjoyed it. First stop was Hikone Castle – the climb up was a bit of a workout, but totally worth it. The view from the top was amazing, with Lake Biwa and the mountains in the distance. It was my first time going inside an original Japanese castle (not a reconstruction), and that made it feel extra special. You could really feel the history. Had a lovely tea break right by the castle – traditional green tea in a peaceful setting with great views. Super relaxing and felt very “Japan.” Also spent some quiet time at Hikone Port. The weather was perfect, and it was so calm and quiet, with just a few people fishing by the water. Watching the lake in the evening light was a moment of pure peace. As for food, Hikone has some great spots. One hidden gem was Yu Sakuya – they serve amazing tempura made from local ingredients. They use fresh fish from Lake Biwa and locally grown vegetables, all fried up light and crispy. Everything tasted super fresh and seasonal. Also got to try Omi beef, one of the top wagyu brands in Japan. The marbling was beautiful, and it basically melted in my mouth – so flavorful and tender. Stayed at AB Hotel Hikone, which was clean, convenient, and came with a nice free breakfast and a relaxing public bath. Great value for a simple, comfy stay in town. Hikone’s a small town, but it’s packed with charm, history, and seriously good food. A great place to slow down and enjoy a few peaceful days. #hikone #hikonecastle #japan #travel #kyushu

If you also want to see cherry blossoms, you can avoid the crowds and come here to Kyoto. Most of the people there are local Japanese, and there are not many tourists, which is very happy. However, when you arrive here at noon and have already bought the tickets, you still have to queue for the castle tower! There weren't many cars open when we arrived on 3/29, but now there should be a lot. It's great that there are very few tourists, most of them are Japanese. It's the right place to avoid the crowds! Love it! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Yanyan has his working hours and will meet everyone here after three o'clock in the afternoon. If you want to take pictures, it is recommended to go to Mengjingcheng Street in the morning and come back around two or three in the afternoon!
