Day Trip To The Past - Harrogate

I had the pleasure of spending a day in the wonderfully quaint Town of Harrogate with my sister, where the architecture is stunning. Travelling via train is very convenient and the station is on the periphery of the town itself. We had a planned lunch at the Pickled Sprout, a short distance away. The reviews for this restaurant were exellent and it did not disappoint - highly recommended, food was delicious and quickly served by attentive staff in such beautiful surroundings. Reasonably priced too with good portion sizes. We then took the opportunity to look around the Town with it's array of independent shops, catering to all tastes. We were delighted to see that there was a Cornish Bakery here, so we took advantage of the offers due to near closing time and selling what was left off. No visit to Harrogate can be considered complete until you have visited the original 'Betty's Tea Rooms! So we took tea and a 'Fat Rascal' , which was like stepping back in time with the most courteous service ever from staff, that were in a traditional uniform. There was a slight wait on arrival because it is popular - so be aware! Suffice to say, we were delighted with the visit and plan to return to see the ancient baths and other parts of the town in the future.
