Recommended sightseeing spots along the Handa Canal

The large 150-year-old Mansan white bank rose in the garden of the Oguri Family Residence, a nationally registered tangible cultural property, was designated a natural monument of Handa City in 2011, and its pretty white flowers bloom every year from mid-April to early May, making it a sight to behold. The rose tree's vines have a heart-shaped part, which is fun to look for. Outside the building, there is a traditional merchant's house called Mansan, where you can buy souvenirs. The headquarters of Mizkan is located along the canal in Handa City, and you can see the history of brewing at the Mizkan Museum, or take a walk in front of the Mizkan-marked storehouse along the canal to explore various historical areas. At Canal Night, which is held along the canal every August, stalls are set up and lanterns are hung from the large tree next to Hanroku Garden, which creates a fantastic and beautiful scene when the sun goes down.
