A hidden gem in Hokkaido, just 30 minutes away by car, with few people

In 2025, I escaped my parents' nagging about marriage and spent a precious and unforgettable time in Hokkaido✨ There was no snow in Hakodate at the end of January, so I had to take the JR train every day to find snow😓 That's how I discovered Onuma Park. There were no noisy tourists, only thick snow. On New Year's Day, the only ones walking in the park were snowmen, crows, and me. It was as if the whole world had quieted down, leaving only purity. 🌟Why do I recommend [Onuma Park]? 1. Very few people: No queues, no crowds, this is my ideal holiday😌 2. A hidden gem: I've been to Mount Hakodate and Goryokaku, the former is crowded and not worth it, the latter is mediocre😿 The unpopular Onuma Park is so low-key, but the scenery is just as beautiful. The lake is frozen, people sit on small yellow stools and fish with bated breath, and Mount Komagatake in the distance is covered in snow, as beautiful as a painting. 3. Convenient transportation: Only 30 minutes from Hakodate, take the JR train to Onuma Park Station, and walk for 5 minutes to get there, perfect for a half-day trip. 4. Easy to find food: There are some restaurants nearby when you're tired of walking in the park. I chose a brunch place with the highest rating, the owners are a Japanese couple who speak fluent English, and the whole place is decorated with a sense of style, like a fairytale cabin. The place is warm, playing lazy jazz music. All the food is freshly made and fried, so there is a bit of a smell of oil (not a big deal), and the food is pretty good👍🏻 What impressed me was that the coffee was never served during the meal, we thought it was forgotten, but then the owner came over with a smile and asked, "Can I serve the coffee now?" That's when I realized, "Oh, you're supposed to finish lunch first and then enjoy the coffee in the sun." You can feel that they have their own order of eating, just as organized as the beautiful restaurant. 5. Japanese people are so tight-lipped, the local octopus ice cream is really delicious!!! 💓Tips: 1. The snow melts and there is ice, so wear non-slip shoes!!! 2. The snow is a natural reflector, making your skin look translucent and beautiful in photos! But the snow also reflects light, so remember to wear sunglasses🕶️ 3. The park is very quiet, suitable for a more artistic outfit, with a scarf or hat, and you can take a winter atmosphere photo.
