Gwangju Democracy Square, the site of the May 18 Gwangju Uprising

This was the base of the Gwangju Uprising on May 18, 1980. The panel behind it, bearing the words "5.18 Truth Investigation," depicts the scene at the time when a huge number of people gathered around the fountain to fight to protect democracy.
