🎢 Fun & Thrills at Seoul Land

#seoulspots Background Seoul Land is South Korea’s first amusement park, opened in 1988 near the foot of Cheonggyesan Mountain, in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi-do. It’s part of the larger Seoul Grand Park complex, which includes Seoul Zoo, hiking paths, and art museums. Despite its age, Seoul Land remains popular, drawing about 3-3.5 million visitors a year. The park is built across ~300,000 m², divided into five themed areas: World Plaza, Adventure Land, Fantasy Land, Tomorrow Land, and Samchulli Hill.  Why It’s Worth Visiting Seoul Land offers something for everyone—thrill seekers, families, and casual visitors. Rides range from roller coasters like Black Hole 2000 and Galaxy Train to gentler attractions for kids. There are carnival-style games, character-themed zones, movie theatres, theatrical performances, and seasonal festivals (e.g. Tulip Festival, Rose Festival, Snow Light, etc.). Evening laser/light shows are especially popular. Its close proximity to Seoul makes it an easy day or half-day trip.  My Impression Visiting Seoul Land felt like stepping into childhood again—lights, laughter, the scent of fried snacks, and the thrill of the rides. There’s a charm in how the park mixes vintage amusement park vibes with newer attractions, and how views of Cheonggyesan Mountain frame it. For me, the moments that stood out were riding a coaster as the sun dipped behind the hills, catching the evening laser show, and seeing children’s faces light up in Fantasy Land. It’s not the biggest or newest park, but it has heart—and sometimes that makes all the difference.
