The iconic building of Guiyang - Jiaxiu Tower

Jiaxiu Tower is the iconic building of Guiyang, located at No. 8 Cuiwei Alley, Nanming District, in the center of Guiyang city. It was built in the 28th year of the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty. The construction was organized by the then Governor of Guizhou, Jiang Dong, who used a huge stone in the river that resembled a divine turtle as the foundation stone. The purpose was to foster a generation of talented individuals from Guizhou, to be outstanding in the world. This ancient building, which is over 400 years old, seems out of place in today's bustling city, yet it displays the profound culture of Guiyang, adding a touch of ancient charm to the modern city.
