Paying Respects to the 72 Martyrs at Guangzhou Huanghuagang Park

Huanghuagang Park is located at No. 79, Xianlie Middle Road, Guangzhou. I was deeply moved and inspired when I read about the glorious deeds of the 72 martyrs in history books. I finally had the opportunity to travel to Guangzhou, and I specially arranged half a day to visit Huanghuagang Park to pay my respects to the martyrs. In the eyes of us northerners, Guangzhou in the depths of winter is full of spring, with green trees and flowers decorating the park. The four characters "浩气长存" (Hao Qi Chang Cun) on the sign are an important symbol of the park. On April 27, 1911, the Tongmenghui led by Sun Yat-sen built the park to commemorate the martyrs who died in the Guangzhou Huanghuagang Uprising, which witnessed the birthplace of the modern Chinese revolution. In the park, I read the inscriptions of important figures such as Sun Yat-sen and Zhang Binglin during the Xinhai Revolution, paid my respects to the martyrs, and visited Feng Ru, China's first aviation expert, Deng Zhongyuan, a hero of the Xinhai Revolution, Yang Xianyi, who was praised by Sun Yat-sen as the "Father of the Chinese Air Force," and Shi Jianru, the "Second Hero of the Republic." Mr. Pan Dawei, who is particularly admired, is also buried here. After the failure of the Guangzhou March 29 Uprising, he risked his life as a journalist to travel around, and finally, in the name of the Shantang, he brought the martyrs back to Huanghuagang. There is also the Huanghuagang Cultural Museum in the park, which exhibits the deeds of Soong Ching-ling, whose bold words "fighting for a new China" became the theme of the museum. Guangzhou Huanghuagang Park is a national key cultural relic protection unit. Opening hours: 6:30 am to 9:00 pm.
