Grampians National Park: A Solo Traveler’s Take 🌿

Even with most of the park closed due to bushfires, it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my journey. This rugged slice of nature is a hiker’s dream, and although I couldn’t see it all, what I did see made me want to return someday. A Hike to Chautauqua Peak With many trails closed, I tackled the Chautauqua Peak hike. The trail was peaceful, with just a handful of fellow hikers along the way. The climb was steep in places, but the views at the top were worth every step. Standing there, surrounded by towering sandstone cliffs and vast wilderness, I felt completely connected to the landscape. Staying in Halls Gap I stayed at the YHA Eco-Hostel in Halls Gap, which was the perfect base. It’s a cozy, budget-friendly spot with great vibes and friendly travelers. Plus, kangaroos casually grazing on the hostel lawn made for a magical start to every morning. Why I’ll Go Back Even with limited access, Grampians left a lasting impression. The wildlife, the rugged peaks, and the sense of tranquility—it’s all unforgettable. Next time, I want to hike The Pinnacle, visit Mackenzie Falls, and explore the Aboriginal rock art sites that were off-limits this time.
