Penang has a fortress - Fort Cornwallis

#2月好地方2025 Fort Cornwallis, named after Charles Cornwallis, the Governor of Bengal in the late 18th century, is one of the most distinctive historical sites in Georgetown. The walls are about 10 feet high and are laid out in a star-like shape. The walk takes about 10 minutes. Inside the fort you can still see the facilities built a century ago, including a chapel, prison cells, ammunition magazines, a lighthouse that was once used to guide incoming ships, a flagpole that remains to this day and several bronze cannons; one of which is a Dutch cannon called Seri Rambai, which dates back to 1603. There is a glass building in Fort Cornwallis, which is Kota cafe. It has a white brick wall in the middle, wooden tables and chairs, and a statue of Francis Light inside. The overall design is based on the noble French style, with natural light, and the top floor is also an open viewing balcony. The food presented is a mixture of Nyonya cuisine and Western food, which is quite satisfying.
