We decided to check out 大吉利涮涮锅 SHABU SHABU & HOT POT HOUSE, a newly opened spot for dinner, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Unlike the usual big shared pot, here each person gets their own small pot, which I found quite refreshing – no more fighting over soup bases or dipping at the same time. I went for the mala broth, which packed a nice punch without being too oily, while my missus opted for the Chinese herbal pot, which was fragrant and soothing. Both bases were flavorful and well-prepared. The ingredients were fresh – from the meat slices to the vegetables – and portioned well. Service deserves a shout-out too. The staff were attentive and quick, making sure we had everything we needed without us having to ask twice. For a new restaurant, they’re already running things smoothly. Overall, it’s a modern twist on the Chinese hotpot experience, with quality broths, fresh ingredients, and good service.
