Fuzhou Shangxiahang (3)

At the entrance of the Shangxiahang Historical and Cultural District near the Santong Bridge, there is a Shangshu Temple, a shrine built to commemorate the Southern Song Dynasty's anti-Yuan general Chen Wenlong. There are five such temples in Fuzhou, and this one is the most magnificent and exquisitely built. In front of the Shangshu Temple, there is a lychee tree, lush with branches and leaves and bearing abundant fruit, indicating its age. The former residence of Huang Peisong, the last martial arts champion from Fujian in the Qing Dynasty, is now the Fuzhou Art Museum. When I visited, it was hosting the 'Ink and Brush Wonderland' Chinese painting exhibition by the famous painter Mr. Zhao Shengli.
