Fuzhou Shangxiahang, a poetic and picturesque historical district

Besides Sanfang Qixiang, where else in Fuzhou has a classical flavor? I think the answer must be Shangxiahang located in Taijiang District. Shangxiahang to Fuzhou is like Qinghefang to Hangzhou. The style of this district is somewhat similar to Sanfang Qixiang, but with the embellishment of small rivers, it adds a bit more of the poetic and picturesque charm of water towns, reminiscent of the Jiangnan described by literati. This is a district full of historical sense, with ancient-style buildings on both sides, and various temples and guild halls distributed by the bridges. In the late Qing Dynasty, Fuzhou became one of the five treaty ports, and Shangxiahang was a distribution center for dozens of industries such as tea, shipping, silk, and medicinal materials, witnessing the prosperity of Fuzhou's commerce and the development of the city. Strolling through Shangxiahang, you can still feel the elegance of more than 100 years ago. It is known as the "Fuzhou Traditional Commercial Museum," inheriting the "Min Merchants Spirit" for generations. The district is filled with cultural heritage sites and traditional style buildings, suitable for friends who like quiet places to slowly wander and take photos.
