The city of Fez consists of three areas: the Old City of Fez, the New City of Fez and the New Urban Area. The ancient city of Fez was founded in 789 AD and was the first Islamic dynasty in Morocco. The entrance to the ancient city of Fez is the Boujilou Blue Gate decorated with beautiful tiles. When you cross this gate, the scenery in front of you seems to go back a thousand years. There are 9,402 streets in the old city, which is as complicated as a maze. The Moroccan residents in the old city seem to still live in the Middle Ages.
