Looking for photo tips for Hulunbuir in summer? Look no further

Summer in Hulunbuir is so beautiful that you wouldn't want to sleep on a long journey, fearing you might miss the scenery outside the window. After spending too much time in the city, it's refreshing and pleasant to experience the open grasslands, blue skies, white clouds, green grass, and herds of cattle and sheep. ➡️Time: These photos were all taken in early June this year in Hulunbuir. Some grasslands were not fully green yet, which might not happen until July or August. ➡️Photography Tips: We joined a five-day, four-night tour in Hulunbuir and visited all the famous spots. Based on several days of photography experience and post-processing selection, I've summarized the following tips and suggestions to help those visiting Hulunbuir for the first time: 1⃣Weather is key: Always choose a sunny day for photography, preferably from noon to afternoon, when the blue sky and white clouds are incredibly beautiful! Such sunny weather makes for great photos, whether you're using a phone or a camera. We had two days of less clear weather, and the photos didn't turn out as transparent. When it's sunny, taking portraits can be dazzling, and the facial lighting may not be even. In such cases, it's advisable to take long shots with a reduced human presence in the frame, blending into the scenery, or take some back or side shots, see p1-3. If the weather isn't great or there's heavy morning fog, reduce the sky and distant shots. You can take portraits from a high angle, like p5-6, which were taken in heavy fog. 2⃣Take more long shots and use a wide-angle with a small aperture: In a place with stunning scenery like Hulunbuir, don't use telephoto or large aperture to blur the background for portraits. The effect is quite ordinary. I prefer using a wide-angle with a small aperture (f8-11) to integrate the subject into the scene, adding a sense of story to the image. 3⃣Find high ground: Although the grasslands are vast, there are some hills or elevated walkways. Having the model stand on such high ground, with the photographer shooting from below, can capture the scenery with the sky as the background and grasslands at the feet, creating a great atmosphere, see p1-3. Of course, this assumes clear weather with blue skies and white clouds. ➡️Equipment Suggestion: These photos were taken with a Nikon Z5 + Z24200, and one was taken with a mini3pro drone. The 24200 lens is very convenient, covering everything from long shots to close-ups. If you're using a camera, definitely bring a wide-angle lens. I felt my 24mm was a bit limited for this kind of landscape. Also, taking such landscapes with a phone is no problem at all. My girlfriend and I used Huawei and Apple phones to take many beautiful photos, which also reduced the post-processing workload. ➡️Post-processing Suggestion: I used LR and Meitu Xiu Xiu for post-processing. I like a high-key tone, overall increased exposure, and enhanced natural saturation. Depending on the greenness of the grass, you can adjust the yellow and green hues using HSL. In conclusion, this trip was very satisfying. I was repeatedly amazed by the landscapes of Hulunbuir, feeling that even the best equipment could hardly capture the true beauty seen with the naked eye.
