🌳Eergu’Na Wetlands in INNER MONGOLIA
While visiting Inner Mongolia, you have the chance to experience China’s biggest wetland area in Erguna. It is also, like pretty much everything else in China, the first known wetland in Asia.
This area is a National Park and has great infrastructure all the way around. At the entry and exit point, you will find yourself surrounded by little gift and snack shops, but they are a bit more pricey since it’s a tourist area.
With a large and well built boardwalk, you can go from one side to the other, and also go down the hill a bit into the wetlands. However, you cannot actually reach any parts of the river. From the top, the contrasting view between the city and vast green landscape makes for great pictures, and complement the scenery in a beautiful way.
At the end of the boardwalk, you will find a small museum which displays the multiple flora and fauna found in the wetlands. Some parts are interactive, so it’ll be a great break for the kids! There is also an exclusive gift shop inside with plush animals and other unique items from Inner Mongolia.

What kind of experience is it in the yurt weekend? Unlock the summer new experience
on the second night of the Hulun Buir grassland, my mother and I live in the yurt. This is probably the easiest house to build in the world: in the old days, it consisted of skylights, wood poles and walls, in a three-stage structure. High and small size, freely retractable, no burden to relocate.
Now, a few hundred years have passed, "When you are a room, the felt is a wall, and the meat is used as a pulp for the meat." Inner Mongolia has rarely seen the original residence. More, it is a "imitation" made of brick and tile cement.
Fortunately, where we live, there are still traces of authentic life. For example, open the skylight to see the stars, ride the gallops on the prairie, and around the campfire, come to a local dance party.
Tips: By the end of July to the beginning of September, the accommodation experience of the yurt is in short supply. If you are interested in living here, be sure to book in advance, per capita 200 ~ 350 yuan / night. After dinner, you can take part in some local experiences, such as wrestling contests, milking, night star watching, and more.

🌟 Whole Roasted Lamb: A centuries-old Inner Mongolian traditional delicacy, historically served to honor distinguished guests from afar.
🌟 Hand-grabbed Meat: Made from mutton, named for the large chunks of meat that are torn by hand when eating, it has a distinctive ethnic flavor and is deliciously rich.
🌟 Grilled Beef and Mutton Skewers: The meat is firm and flavorful, and Inner Mongolian mutton does not have a gamey taste, just grill and flaunt it.
🌟 Inner Mongolian Milk Tea: Made by boiling milk tea with ingredients like beefsteak, minced meat, cheese, and dried meat, all simmered together.
🏞 Accommodation Guide
⭕️ Hailar Accommodation
If you are traveling independently, it is recommended to stay near the Hailar train station. This makes travel convenient, as it is easy and inexpensive to take a taxi within the city.
⭕️ Manzhouli Accommodation
Hotels in the Manzhouli city area are a bit old. The Matryoshka Hotel is not really recommended during the peak tourist season, as it's too expensive and not cost-effective. It is suggested to choose a Russian-style hotel for a good experience at a reasonable price.
⭕️ Heishantou Accommodation
Heishantou is mainly Mongolian yurts. When booking, make sure to compare prices, as they can vary greatly. Definitely book in advance during the peak season.
⭕️ Shiwei Accommodation
Shiwei accommodations are typically wooden houses, with generally basic conditions but quite characteristic.
✈️ Transportation Guide
① Hailar Dongshan Airport: 13 kilometers from the city center, a 10-minute airport shuttle ride will get you to the city, and it departs as soon as it's full, which is very convenient.

Hulunbuir Grassland Full Guide (Routes, Attractions)
👉 The best time to visit Hulunbuir is from June to August. The grass grows best during this period, but it is usually recommended to visit in early June or mid-September because the temperature is more suitable and there are fewer people. The endless grassland, layers of white clouds, and the brilliant starry sky can all satisfy you here~
👉 Enjoying the grassland scenery along the way is also part of the journey. The driver and guide will recommend special attractions and delicacies to make your travel experience better.
👉 Clothing and item preparation:
1. It is recommended to wear bright summer clothes, so the photos will look better. Also, bring long sleeves and pants because of the large temperature difference between day and night to prevent catching a cold.
2. There are more mosquitoes and insects in the grassland and forest areas, so bring mosquito repellent and anti-itch products.
3. The air is relatively dry compared to the south, so bring moisturizing skincare products and a water bottle to drink more water.
4. Although the temperature is not high, the ultraviolet rays are still strong, so bring sunscreen products.
5. The grassland diet is mostly Mongolian cuisine, mainly meat dishes. To prevent indigestion, you can prepare some digestive medicine just in case.

🚗About Major Transportation
Manzhouli and Hailar both have airports & train stations. Most southern cities can fly directly. Friends who choose to travel by train can use Harbin as a transfer station🚆.
🚙About Local Car Rental
Because Hulunbuir is too large and there is no transportation between scenic spots, 🍷 it is recommended to either rent a car or hire a car (the latter is recommended to save money, time, and effort, and avoid the fatigue of driving, plus there is no navigation available in the grassland)🐶.
🔴About Entertainment
First of all, the bonfire party, everyone holds hands and the atmosphere is super good.
Grass skiing🌿: 186 is the longest grass skiing cableway in Hulunbuir.
Horse riding🐴: According to your riding time and distance.
Glider🎈: Overlooking the endless grassland scenery.
💒About Accommodation
Local guides can book rooms cheaper than online.
In Hailar and Manzhouli city centers, stay in some 3-4-5 star business hotels.
In Erguna, experience staying in Russian wooden houses.
In Heishantou, experience staying in Mongolian yurts (the kind where you can see the starry sky🤡).
🔴About Clothing
The temperature difference in Hulunbuir is large. You can wear beautiful clothes during the day, but remember to bring a jacket for the evening.
Sunscreen, sun hat, and sunglasses🕶 are also essential.
🔴Conclusion
Alright~that's about it for the guide. For more details, contact our local guide to hear what suggestions they have for you.

Temperature: The temperature difference in Hulunbuir is relatively large. It is hot and sunny during the day, and the temperature drops sharply after sunset. Bring both spring and summer clothes. You can wear summer clothes during the day and a thick jacket at night. I brought a lightweight down jacket for the evening.
Outfit: Hulunbuir has grasslands, so fairy and retro styles are quite suitable. Mainly wear solid color long dresses. White looks more fairy-like, and bright colors are more photogenic. Wearing a hat can protect you from the sun and help you pose.
Skincare: The weather in Hulunbuir is relatively dry, so be sure to moisturize. The UV rays are also strong during the day, so bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat.
Food: Due to Hulunbuir's unique geographical location, you can eat Mongolian, Northeastern, and Russian cuisine here. The highlight is that Inner Mongolian lamb does not have a gamey taste. Even I, who usually don't like lamb, fell in love with Inner Mongolian lamb.
Shopping: In Manzhouli, you can buy some Russian chocolates, snacks, and skincare products. The prices are very cheap.

Sharing the most worth-collecting guide
Hulunbuir Travel Guide No.1 The most concerned issues for everyone when traveling are transportation, accommodation, entertainment, and scenic spot tickets. This Hulunbuir travel guide will save you a lot of precious time.
Hulunbuir Travel Guide No.2 Hulunbuir Food: When traveling, the temptation of food is indispensable. It is very important to have delicious meals after getting tired. We tasted authentic Hulunbuir food, including: roasted whole lamb, cold water fish, iron pot stewed beef ribs, chicken stewed with wild mushrooms, and a series of other delicacies. The barbecue we made ourselves was extremely delicious.
Hulunbuir Travel Guide No.3 Accommodation This issue troubled me for a long time before going to Hulunbuir because we changed cities every day and had to consider where to stay, the conditions, whether there were mosquitoes, and whether the accommodation online would be different from reality, whether the price would increase or there would be no rooms available upon arrival, etc. All these problems were solved by our driver. The arranged accommodation was very clean and hygienic. Hulunbuir has several characteristic accommodations. The first is the grassland characteristic Mongolian yurt. The yurt we stayed in was very clean, with large floor-to-ceiling windows, and we could also see the starry sky. It was beautiful! The second characteristic accommodation is the Russian-style wooden house. The whole building is made of Russian wood. Entering the house feels like walking into a big forest. The only downside is that the rooms are not soundproof because they are made of wood, but it is still very necessary to experience it for one night.
Hulunbuir Travel Guide No.4 Hailar This place is the gathering point for everyone. After landing, contact our driver in advance. We had a total of 4 off-road vehicles, very professional. Each car had a walkie-talkie, professional drivers, and a professional team, which left a deep impression on us! They arranged everything very clearly for us throughout the trip. In short, the Hulunbuir trip was very worry-free, with good food and good accommodation!

During the day you can walk through the village or rent a bike to move around faster. There is a small port at the end of the board walk where you can get a boat to go up and down the river. 🚢
You can also visit the raspberry and blueberry farm and check out the reindeers there. 🫐
Visit in the evening to find the village hopping with bbqs and tours it’s taking in the sights.

Hulunbuir Travel Guide: Classic 6-Day, 5-Night Itinerary
Hulunbuir 6-day 5-night guide❗
National Geographic does not deceive me; I accidentally stumbled into Hayao Miyazaki's fairy tale world! I finally understand why everyone wants to go to Hulunbuir to escape the summer heat❗
🚗This 6-day route includes Hulunbuir's popular attractions, such as the Morin Dawa River, Arxan, the Unfrozen River, Ergun Wetland, Hulun Lake, the Barhu Horse Dance, and more. Along the way, you'll also see vast forests, Nordic woods, Nara deer, and Monet's haystacks scattered across the grasslands... The grasslands have become the most eye-catching scenery
~
🐏As a local from Hulunbuir, I've summarized this super detailed guide. It's best to bookmark it for later, as it's useful no matter when you visit Hulunbuir.

D2. Hailar → Hulunbuir Grassland → Morin Dawa River → Haji No-Man's Land Grassland → Ergun Wetland → Liliya Leba Bread → Stay in Ergun

💯About the way to play
❌Join a tour bus, sleep on the bus, and pee when you get off. Traditional
❌Renting a car and self-driving can only visit the attractions found by navigation, then drive on the paved road from start to finish. Boring
✔️Off-road vehicles go deep into the grasslands, seeking that natural corner
✔️Horseback riding across the grasslands, bonfire parties, fireworks parties
🍬【Travel Tips】
🔖The weather in Inner Mongolia's grasslands is unpredictable, with large temperature differences between day and night, so bring warm and windproof clothing (avoid green clothes for photos)
🔖If possible, prepare a telephoto lens and walkie-talkies, as the distance for photography on the grassland is far, and try to get up early (it gets light around three o'clock)
🔖Pay attention to sun protection!
🔖Scenic spots generally charge a fee, so bring your student ID
🔖If you need to cross the grasslands, many attractions within the grasslands do not have map navigation, the grasslands are too vast, many places have no cell phone signal, and without an experienced leader, do not risk self-driving!
Take your children to the grasslands and into the homes of herders this holiday, become a true Mongolian for once, and experience life on the grasslands~ Who does this vast grassland belong to in their heart? This summer, let us embark on this wonderful journey together, to explore, experience, and perceive, allowing our souls to deeply integrate with nature.
