Liu Wencai Manor, experience the luxury of a former landlord's home

Liu's Manor, located in Anren Town, Dayi County, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, is the most complete and largest private manor existing in China. Liu's Manor is not only very large in building area and luxuriously decorated, but also became widely known during the ten-year catastrophe due to the image of Liu Wencai, once becoming the focus of attention both domestically and internationally. Liu's Manor was built in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China, and is a group of buildings that blend Chinese and Western architectural styles. The manor is divided into two parts: the old mansion and the new mansion, which are now open to the public for visits. The Liu family was a prominent family in old China, combining the roles of landlords, bureaucrats, and warlords. Liu Wencai himself owned as many as 28 manors and mansions. Liu Wencai Manor consists of the mansions and ancestral homes of him and his five brothers, forming a large manor complex. The layout of the old mansion is an irregular polygon, surrounded by a 6-meter-high wind and fire wall, with seven large gates and gun holes on the wall, showing the defensive function of the manor. Inside the mansion, there are 27 courtyards and more than 180 rooms, as well as three gardens. Among them, the most distinctive building is the "Miss Building" built in the 1930s. This hexagonal building has equal areas on the first and second floors, with continuous arcades on the outside, forming a perfect circle. The brick-wood mixed structure of the "Miss Building", with its six-sided pointed roof combined with the triangular windows and colonnades of Fengyuan, reflects China's absorption and integration of foreign architectural styles at that time. Liu's Manor is not only a historical and cultural landscape but also a valuable resource for studying residential architecture and family history. Visitors can take a minibus directly from Chengdu Jinsha Bus Station to Dayi County, with a ticket price of 10 yuan, and then transfer to a minibus to the manor, with a ticket price of 5 yuan. The entrance fee to the manor is 40 yuan. Walking into Liu's Manor is like traveling back to that era, where you can feel the former glory of the Liu family and the luxury of the manor. Every brick and tile, every design detail here tells the story of a family and reflects traces of a period in history.
