Kicking Horse River

The river flows through Yoho National Park, where it is a popular destination for whitewater rafting, kayaking, and other outdoor activities. The river is known for its scenic beauty, including waterfalls like Wapta Falls and the Natural Bridge. The distinctive turquoise color of the water is a result of glacial meltwater. The river was named in 1858 during the Palliser Expedition when a member of the group, James Hector, was kicked by his horse while crossing the river. The name was given to commemorate the incident.
