Simon Creek Bridge

#holidayitinerary Jasper, Alberta, is home to several notable bridges, each with its own historical and functional significance. The Simon Creek Bridge, located on the historic Athabasca Pass Trail, has been a subject of recent discussions. In 2016, the original bridge was washed out, hindering access to the Athabasca Pass National Historic Site. Trevor Willson, a Calgary-based engineer and backcountry enthusiast, proposed a fully funded replacement bridge—100 feet long and 6 feet wide—constructed from fiberglass. Despite the offer, Jasper National Park Superintendent Alan Fehr declined the proposal, citing concerns over maintaining the ecological integrity of the area. This decision has been met with criticism from local enthusiasts who argue that the lack of infrastructure is disconnecting the public from Canada's heritage . #travel #couplestrip
