Wat Rong Khun, Chiang Rai Province

Wat Rong Khun is located in Pa O Don Chai Subdistrict, 12 kilometers from Mueang Chiang Rai District. Designed and built by Ajarn Chalermchai Khositphiphat, a famous Thai painter, the inspiration for building this temple was for 3 reasons: for the nation, religion, and the monarchy, to be a work of Buddhist art during the reign of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great. An interesting thing about Wat Rong Khun is the all-white Ubosot decorated with silver glass patterns and decorated with Naga serpents. Ajarn Chalermchai wanted to transform the temple into a heavenly city, a palace on earth that humans can touch. There are also mural paintings and various sculptures.
